Newsletters are being curated by so many brands currently that I can’t keep up! It used to be blogs, but I’ll give the credit to TheSkimm for making it chic and concise enough for millennials to become obsessed with. Being an in-the clouds, busy, stressed college student I certainly don’t get my fair share of reading as I’d like to. This is where newsletters swoop in to save me, because current events, everyone (can you hear your social studies teacher yet?) The benefit to signing up for newsletters is they kind of act like a pick me up and if you find a good one they almost feel like catching up with a friend. They also keep you informed, because I don’t know about you but even though we have all the channels known to man I never turn on my TV and I’m certainly not flipping to the news channel. Additionally, newsletters have already picked out what you’re gonna read so you don’t even have to waste through any website wondering what you feel like reading.

And let me just say that while celebrity news are darn addicting and interesting they don’t exactly make for worthy conversation. That said I will give some honorable mention to my top pick for Snapchat discovery channel E! News Rundown. Still need some more? Daily Mail. And that’s it! Quit while you’re ahead! Please don’t spiral into the addicting Cosmopolitan, Refinery 29, and Sweet, that I am a daily slave to.

Ok, here are my newsletter faves:

1.The Betches SUP

This hilarious email always contains current events with a sarcastic, mean girls twist on it. Is there truly anything better than reading about the crazy stuff going on while hearing Regina George shining through?

2. TheSkimm

I will call them the pioneer of kitschy newsletters. Aimed at informing us about everything important they deliver real news with a witty millennial hipster spin. It’s kind of like the Elle Woods of Harvard.

3. The Newsette

This one is super interactive and kind of gives you a more curated snapshot of everything you might not even know you wish to know. Focused more on the working woman’s style I certainly get a burst of inspiration when reading it.

4. Girlboss

A must-have for any woman, but essential to the college woman for all the motivational and empowering content. From the very own Nasty Gal founder and now media mogul this newsletter truly gives you that energizing shake your day needs.

5. CFA Financial News brief

Lastly, I have to interject some more serious and intellectually challenging piece because being in the Business School you’re expected to communicate market and global news in an understandable language other than allusions to the Kardashians.

Valentina is a business student with an open mind for all things creative and innovative. She knows the real-life struggles but maintains an idealist view. She can easily be entertained on a spectrum of Gossip Girl to House of Cards with Portlandia in between.
