“What does the future hold?” is something you might ask yourself often, especially given our current situation. I know I do. I love having a plan, knowing what my next move is, and feeling confident that all is set and well. However, this past year has taught me that things won’t always go as planned, and it’s okay. Each season has a purpose, and instead of worrying about the future, we should try to enjoy the moments in between. In time everything works out for our greater good, and we have to hold on to believing that it will. To try to alleviate my anxiety about the future, one of my goals this year is to be intentional about embracing the unknown. Here are a few reminders to cling to this year so you can embrace the unknown and find joy in the journey to your future.

Know That You Don’t Have to Have Everything Figured Out

It’s okay to not know exactly what you want at this moment. Whether it’s your future career, a relationship, or anything else you feel like you have to have it all together, you don’t. There are times to just be and go with the flow. Use moments like this to deeper explore who you are. This is the time to discover what you like, what you don’t, what you want to try, and which areas you want to grow in.

And if you are the girl who knows exactly what she wants, allow room for flexibility in how you will reach your goal. There is no one way to get where you want to be. Our goals don’t always happen the time or way we would like to. If you keep showing up every day and try to remain positive, your unique path will take you to where you want to be and more.

Be Open to Anything

The unfamiliar can be scary, but you’ll never know unless you try. All of your favorite things were once something new to you so let yourself step into that space again. Join a new club or go to an event to make new connections. Allow your mind to be a sponge by learning about topics you never delved into before. Take a risk and try that thing you secretly have been wanting to do. When you let yourself be open to new people, plans, and opportunities, you learn more about yourself and the life around you. Let go of what doesn’t serve you and dive into the new to see what will.

What’s Meant For You Will Come

All will be revealed to you when the time is right. There’s no need to rush, worry, or know all that the future holds. It may seem like nothing’s happening right now, or things will never change, but they will. Your life is a journey, and you are always evolving. Each step you take is leading you to where you need to be. So enjoy the process of getting there. Your dream will happen. You will succeed. The people meant to be in your life will be with you. You will be okay.

I hope this helps you feel less worried about the future. No matter what things look like right now, you have bright days ahead.
