Campus Cutie: Dana Slavick

What is your favorite thing about Rutgers?
I really love the community and spirit here, everyone is so friendly and ready to help! I also really love walking through the gates at Bishop Beach on my way back to Brett and seeing the flowers shaped like the R!

What brought you to Rutgers?
Originally I had a plan to be a vet, and mostly state schools have Vet programs and I chose Rutgers because of the price, as well as the proximity to home. But I also really love the spirit because I’ve been around it my whole life since my town is 15 minutes away

What are you involved in? What is your favorite and why?
I am the Freshman Representative of Brett Hall, and am in the Rutgers University First Year Fellowship which is a program that encourages freshmen to build connections  and leadership skills. My favorite however is the Seeing Eye Puppy Raising Club. I’m always really excited to go to meetings because l love to help others, but it doesn’t hurt that the puppies come to every meeting so I’m surrounded by bundles of joy!

What do you want to do in the future?
I want to be a doctor but I’m not sure, either a vet because I love animals and I’m passionate about taking care of them or a pediatrician because I also love working with children, but either way I’ll be doing something I love and saving lives!

What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Optimistic, Joyful, Compassionate

What are your hobbies?
I love to water ski, go tubing, crochet, and play with my dog, Millie!

If you could be anyone for a day who would you be and why?
I’d be Crystal Reed who is an actress in Teen Wolf because I think she’s so nice, inspiring, and beautiful!

What is the strangest thing you’ve ever done?
Outside my shore house there’s a really tall pine tree, and I’ve always wanted to climb it. One day I climbed to the top, and as you go up the branches get thinner, and I didn’t realize because I was so little. One of the branches snapped and I fell quite a ways down. I don’t know why I did it, but it was definitely the strangest things I’ve done!

What is your favorite movie and TV show right now?
My favorite TV Show is Teen Wolf because I’ve been hooked from the start! My favorite movie is Abduction because, well, I don’t want to say Taylor Lautner, but Taylor Lautner! But seriously, I really love the action and romance!

What is your favorite song?
The Writer by Ellie Goulding

What is one place you’ve always wanted to travel to?
Hawaii, because everyone always talks about how beautiful it is!

What do you want to accomplish during your time at Rutgers?
I want to make great friends, memories and make the most of the great education I’m getting!
