You finally have some time in your busy life to have a relaxing movie night! Here’s a list for you to choose from, whether you’re looking for some classics, warm-hearted stories, or visuals that will help you unwind.

10 Things I Hate About You

This is one of those classic, light-hearted films that leave you with a warm feeling after watching it. It’s a modern retelling of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew that takes place in high school. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Cameron, a new student who develops a crush on his schoolmate Bianca, who is not allowed to date unless her older sister Kat does. Kat is a strong-willed senior who has no interest in dating, so Cameron plans to find a boyfriend for Kat in order to date Bianca. It’s one of those films that I have watched so many times, but never seem to get tired of!

Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Amélie

It’s hard not to fall in love with the French scenery and Parisian life when you watch this whimsical film. Amélie Poulain is a shy and observant waitress who decides to help better the lives of the people around her as she deals with the loneliness of her own life. It makes you think a lot about how your actions can affect others but also leaves you feeling a sense of calm.

Available on HBO Go.

Love, Simon

Based off of Becky Albertalli’s novel, Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, this film will warm your heart. Simon Spier is a closeted gay teenager in high school who falls in love with an anonymous schoolmate online while keeping up with his social and family life. While funny at times, it also contains many important and emotional scenes about love and understanding.

Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Fantasia

For the people who love visuals, this is for you. I grew up watching this film countless of times, and I think that it is a really cool concept. Fantasia pairs classical songs performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra with animated segments that go along with the rhythms of the pieces. Some of the segments are simply a visual reflection of the song while others have more storytelling in them. Just sit back and relax to some classical music as you watch the animations dance across your screen.

Will be available on Disney+ in November.

Stuck In Love

If you’re tired of seeing the same typical love stories that we’ve all seen before, look no further. The film tells the stories of a high school boy, his sister in college and their divorced father as they each find love in their lives. They all have personal struggles that they have to come to terms with as the film progresses, and it tells a really moving story about family and love.

Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Clueless

This iconic film is perfect for when you need that extra boost of positive energy as you unwind. Cher Horowitz is a wealthy and popular high school girl who realizes that she enjoys helping out other people. After a new girl comes to school, Cher decides to become friends with her and give her a makeover. It’s a great light-hearted movie about love and friendship to end your day with!

Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Loving Vincent

Although this film is not as light-hearted or happy as the other ones mentioned, the visual aspects of it are so beautiful and make you feel like you’re in another world. Every frame was hand-painted with oil on canvas in the style of Vincent van Gogh. It follows the journey of Armand Roulin, who is tasked by his father to deliver a letter to Theo van Gogh, Vincent’s brother, a year after Vincent’s death. As the story unravels, Armand learns more about Vincent’s life and the events that led up to his death. Once you reach the end, you will be left in awe of the powerful story and the amazing artwork that was put into the making of this film.

Available on Hulu.

Life can get overwhelming or stressful at times, but always remember to find time for yourself to relax. Hopefully watching these films can help you recharge as you get comfy and enjoy your night!
