Growing up, I frequently channel surfed, searching for a show that appealed to my short attention span. This led me to the discovery of interactive, stimulating channels like HGTV, the Food Network, the Travel Channel, and many more of the sorts. However, when you’re forced to share the remote with your sibling, much less an older sibling, you have to compromise on which show to watch.

A safe bet was the Disney XD channel, as during the 2010s, there were a variety of amazing shows such as “Gravity Falls,” “Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil,” “Kickin’ It,” and “Pair of Kings” to name a few. But one show ranked superb when it comes down to its soundtrack, and that show is “Phineas and Ferb.”

Here are eight of my favorite tracks from the animated series.

“Backyard Beach”

What a classic! Definitely a must-listen-to staple of the show. This track sets the ambiance of what “Phineas and Ferb” is all about; a group of young teens making the most of their summer break. Not only is the audience treated to tropical rhythms and beachy vibes, but also Ferb’s melodic voice! He did not hold back and decided that the viewers were ready for his bars (we weren’t but we’re glad he fed us some vocals). 10/10 would recommend adding this to your next summer playlist.

“Disco Miniature Golfing Queen”

In the words of Hilary Duff, this is what dreams are made of. You can’t tell me that you don’t groove to the beat of this hot disco track. Can we talk about the visuals?! They were on another level when the animators decided to give us this treat! Have you ever been to a miniature golf course with such a groove, such a swagger with mood lighting and retro outfits? They ran so Dua Lipa could walk.

“Busted”

This is the anthem for all hot girls around the world. You’re lying to yourself if you don’t think Candace and Vanessa’s duet was a cultural reset. Nothing was ever the same after this banger was dropped. The power they exude in the video plus the dance routine?! Amazing, jaw-dropping, iconic, stunning, talented; they are unstoppable! While having opposite fashion styles, their common goal of busting the guys in their life makes the song juicier to listen to. Who’s gonna stop them? Mom?

“There’s a Platypus Controlling Me”

THE BARS IN THIS SONG! THE BEAT! This freestyle track cleared my skin, watered my plants, and cared about my mental health. When faced with a crowd of teenagers, how else was Dr. Doofenshmirtz supposed to do? Teens are scary! Luckily, with the help of Perry, he was able to bring the party back to life with his incredible DJing skills and lyrical lines.

“S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)”

Now somebody, anybody, everybody scream! Who would have thought that Candice screaming would be the perfect backing vocals for this duo of park rappers (do they have a name?). But in all honesty, can you imagine a squirrel running around in your pants trying to escape? I would have deceased at the spot. Fortunately, this track is such a bop (and Candice such an icon) that the choreography is easy to follow, and it should be the next TikTok trend.

Other notable tracks from the show include: “Alien Heart,” “E.V.I.L.  B.O.Y.S,” “Fabulous,” “Ain’t Got Rhythm,” and “Ready for The Bettys!” just to name a few. The beauty about “Phineas and Ferb” is that they try their hand in different musical genres while writing lyrics that go hand-in-hand with the story of the episode. The next time you watch the show, be sure to pay attention to the music. Who knows, the track might end up on your next playlist.
