Here’s the guide to color specific, low effort, and comfy clothing pieces…

College is tough enough as it is. Waking up early, non-stop work, and of course the issue of rushing to do your work from Monday-Thursday so you can go out on Friday (If you’re lucky, you can even go out Thursday night!). But the one struggle every college girl goes through is making the perfect class fit without overthinking it or being too uncomfortable all day. You want something that doesn’t hang uncomfortably off your body, something you won’t get too hot in when you step inside or too cold when you step outside, something that doesn’t make you want to suck in all day or put your hand over your stomach, but also something that makes you feel as fit as you look. Well, I’ve got you!

As everyone’s favorite season rolls around, flannel, baggy jeans, and long sleeves are back. And best of all, so is the color orange. So now that we can finally step outside in our most comfortable clothes , how can we still look effortlessly cute? It’s Monday morning and you’ve got a long day of classes starting at 8AM. The night before you told yourself you’d look cute today, maybe even wear jeans. But now that it’s 6AM, you can barely keep your eyes open, and you couldn’t care less. So, what do you wear?

  1. Sweats

First of all, sweatpants don’t always have to look lazy. Dressing them up with a cute plain shirt, a henley, or even a baby tee can easily make it look like you tried. The easiest, comfiest and cutest way to look good in sweats is through a set. Sweat sets are your best friend through the colder months. And the more vibrant the color the more it sticks out. You can feel like you’ve been in bed all day but look like the cutest girl in your class.

  1. Jeans

The next best thing are baggy jeans, AKA the comfiest form of jeans. Remember this number one rule, the baggier the pants the tighter the top! And no, it doesn’t have to be a crop top. I personally find that when wearing baggy jeans, showing a little collar bone or cleavage elevates the look. (ifykyk).  “But what if I wanna wear those jeans that make my butt look good?” No problem! Rule number two, the tighter the pants, the looser the top. A cute sweatshirt, or graphic tee will never fail. If you feel bloated but want to show off what you got, this is the way to go.

  1. Tees, and long sleeves

Choosing a top that matches your pants will always be the hardest part of picking your outfit out. I usually recommend choosing your pants first for this very reason. The weather in the fall is usually tricky and always changing. If you plan on wearing a jacket, maybe don’t wear that sweater. Tops with buttons are perfect and give that cozy fall vibe. Baby tee’s, plain or not, are perfect (they tend to look their best with slouchy pants).  Graphic tees will never be out of style. I am constantly being complimented by my collection. Wearing them with jeans, and leggings will always work. No matter what the weather or the occasion is.

  1. Jackets

Staying warm is your #1 goal when the fall and winter roll around. Especially when it’s 20 degrees during your walk to your 8AM. Here are some jacket suggestions and how to wear them. Jean jackets are back baby! Don’t be afraid to rock one. Turns out your mom was onto something when she made you wear one when you were younger (but don’t tell her I said that).  Wearing one with a hoodie, a mockneck, or crewneck keeps you warm and ahead of the trends. You’ll be sure to turn heads. The next best thing is a good puffer. I find that puffers that are neutral colors like black, beige, dark brown, grey or even navy blue are not only easy to style, but they look great too! This goes for puffer vests as well. Styling a puffer vest with a flattering long sleeve or sweatshirt is easy and elevates your look to something different. They also look great with leggings. Don’t forget about quarter zips! Quarter zips are the easiest, and cutest, comfiest things to wear. Trying different materials with your jackets will surely elevate your winter closet to a next level.

  1. Accessories

Let’s talk accessories. You’ve put your outfit together but you’ve been wanting to add a little more to your looks recently. Maybe jewelry? Or hats and scarfs, what about sunglasses? Whatever it is, wear it. Trust me. It’s true what they say about accessories, they make every outfit better. I used to be someone who wasn’t one for accessories, but when I gave them a real shot I never looked back. When it comes to jewelry, more is definitely better. If you’re going to wear the earrings, wear the necklace, and the rings. Other things your mom might’ve been onto are hats and gloves. A cute plaid or patterned scarf, and cotton gloves will be your best friends! I cannot stress that enough. Not only will they keep you extra warm but they look amazing. Not to mention, there are multiple patterns and materials that you’ll surely find the right ones for you. My personal favorite way to wear my scarf is over my head, never fails. But there are about 20 ways to wear one. And last but not least, hats! Beanies and baseball caps the best. They will never not be in style, and again the different varieties are endless. Moral of the story, you actually are an accessories person. Just try them out!

Truth is, an effortless look takes some effort. But in time it’ll become truly effortless, and everyone in your class will surely be thinking, “she’s got style!”. The number one tip that is sure to never fail you even with the silliest outfit, is confidence. Be confident in whatever you wear, that’s what truly makes it a good outfit. Good luck to you all! Hopefully my tips have helped you as much as they’ve helped me.
