The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I just rewatched this movie last night, and I had such a great time! And, I am not afraid to admit that I sang along to just about every song, I mean how can you not? Self-care, am I right! The entire cast of the 1975 film, particularly Tim Curry, does an amazing, amazing job with their performances! This cult-classic is a must-see. The entire month of October, I have been listening to this soundtrack whenever I have to write, so yes, I am listening right now as I type, and in case you are curious, I’m listening to “I’m Going Home.”

Little Shop of Horrors

This wacky musical is sure to put a smile on your face. My favorite song is “Somewhere That’s Green”, it’s so good! The 1986 movie with Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene is very entertaining. Also, who doesn’t love the singing plant, Audrey II!

The Phantom of the Opera

Phantom holds a very special place in my heart. My mom tells me that when she was pregnant with me, she would listen to Phantom so I could hear, so I was a fan even before I was born! Phantom was also the first musical I attended on my fifteenth birthday. I know the lyrics to almost every song and own a copy of the novel by Gaston Leroux. I love watching the 2004 movie with Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler. As a teenager, I envied Rossum’s range and tone. Can you believe she was only eighteen in the film, ugh, she’s so talented!

Over the Garden Wall

I discovered this charming miniseries this year, and I’m so glad I did! Talk about cottagecore vibes, this show and its music has it all. I love listening to these songs on my daily Autumn walks, rain, or shine! Warning, the song “Potatoes and Molasses” will be stuck in your head for days, the lyrics are so catchy!

The Nightmare Before Christmas

As a goth at heart, I had to add this classic to the list! I watch this movie in October and in December because it is perfect for both Halloween and Christmas. I remember my dad and I singing along to the songs in the car while driving around and looking at Halloween directions. As a kid, this soundtrack used to always blast at my Halloween parties. So many great memories.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

This 2008 drama miniseries directed by the genius Joss Whedon is a bit less known but is delightful. Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day star in it, and I could listen to these two sing all day. You are bound to have a great time listening to these songs.

Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

I started listening to the original Broadway cast recording after viewing the 2007 movie adaptation directed by Tim Burton. Angela Lansbury kills as Nellie Lovett in the 1979 Broadway production! Did you know that the fictional character of Sweeney Todd first appears in the 1846 penny dreadful series, “The String of Pearls: A Domestic Romance.”
