Five years ago, I barely knew what a podcast was, but now it seems that everyone listens to them. There are so many out there for all types of people that make long commutes to work, tough workouts, and mundane tasks more enjoyable. I’ve listened to so many podcasts but there is one podcast that I cannot stop listening to: Girls Gotta Eat. I have gone down the rabbit-hole of buying their merch, getting tickets to their shows, and have listened to over 100 hours of episodes. Every girl needs this podcast in their life and I’m about to tell you why.

In the podcast, Rayna Greenberg and Ashley Hesseltine tackle a diverse range of topics that all women can relate to when it comes to dating, relationships, sex, and self-love. Being single girls in their early thirties, and living in New York City, they have so much experience in dating and growing into successful, independent women. They’re like the older sisters I’ve never had, giving me advice on navigating the world of dating and finding yourself.

What makes their podcast so great is the way that they discuss these rather taboo topics. They talk so openly about their experiences in sex and dating to the point that you feel like you’re their best friend. You can laugh along with them and feel their emotions so vividly. They discuss such a wide range of topics within sex and dating. There are moments that are hysterical, and others that are serious and deep. They also bring guests with expertise onto the show to enhance the topics. For example, in their episode “Do You Want a Bad Boy?” they discuss dating a guy with a criminal background and they bring an ex-con onto the show to share his experience dating.

This show has taught me so much. I have such different opinions on being single since I started listening to this. I feel like I have a very open mind when it comes to dating thanks to Girls Gotta Eat. As frustrating and disappointing dating is, this show will show the funny side of dating and will cheer you up. The conclusions of episodes feature fan entries of hilarious stories in segments called “Psycho or Powermove?” and “Is This Weird?” to name a few of them.

To start out, my all-time favorite episodes are “Young Love”, “Being Happy Being Single”, “Breakup Bootcamp”, and “Inside the Male Mind”. These are so funny and will absolutely change your life. You can find Girls Gotta Eat on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. After just one episode you’ll be hungry for more!
