This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rowan chapter.

Kylie Young, a freshman, Radio, Television, and Film Major who is from Stratford, New Jersey amazed me with her LED Hula Hoop from a distance while I was walking. I stopped to admire her creativity. I asked her a lot of questions about her expertise in Hula Hooping and if she was involved in any other extracurricular activities on or off campus. Kylie stated, “I am a musician artist and I have my own Rock Band that I spend most of my time with outside of school.” It was glorifying interviewing Kylie Young who is a motivational and intelligent young musician artist.

Ashley Oliver: When did you start singing?Kylie Young: I was three years old when I started singing.

Ashley Oliver: What is the name of your band?Kylie Young: My Band’s name is PETRICHOR.

Ashley Oliver: How did you decide PETRICHOR as the name for your band?Kylie Young: I went to an Open Mic night and I went outside. I said, “It smells like it’s going to rain.” A friend of mine responded, “Petrichor.” It means the smell before rain. Petrichor fits the mood of our music.

Ashley Oliver: Is there a style of clothing that you wear when performing at shows?Kylie Young: I am very noted for Stevie Nick’s style.

Ashley Oliver: What would be your main focus, if you did not spend most of your time performing?Kylie Young: I would be focusing on painting because I am a visionary artist. It is perception beyond relating to psychic ability and spirituality.
