I think it’s so hard to dress myself because there is little representation of my body type in the media. I’m not going into the can of worms of what’s defined as skinny and what is curvy. But my body type plays hopscotch with the line of skinny and fat (neither of which I think people should be ashamed of). Personally, I don’t identify myself as either.

I wear a medium shirt and a size fourteen jeans. I’ve got a muffin top, stretch marks and a round face but, also tummy that looks flat at certain angles and a big booty and breasts. My body type plays hopscotch with the line of skinny and fat (neither of which I think people should be ashamed of).

Maybe if I lost my stomach, I would be able to follow other fashion tips. But I love the way I look. I found myself experimenting with different styles. After a long painful journey and some seriously disturbing fashion mishaps, I learned how to style myself as a curvy girl.

The first thing I learned that long shirts are the devil. Long shirts make you look bigger than you actually are. Especially if you have big boobs the shirt going to create an unflattering shape. Instead, you should tie or tuck in your shirt. It’s going to create an hourglass shape that showcases your curves. Another thing is that you should try to wear pants that are high waisted. It lifts up your booty without sacrificing any other part of your body. I personally like to wear heels or boots with my outfit so I can get even more definition of my body.

But most importantly I learned that I have to wear whatever I want. That I need to ignore all the rules of fashion so I could learn which ones I could break. As it turns out I look great in stripes (a major big girl faux pas), but can’t stand the sight of myself in a crop top without high waisted jeans. The thing about fashion is that it goes out of style. Classy taste and the comfort with your body type lasts forever.
