We’ve all been there. Something in your life just isn’t going right and everything you do seems lackluster and draining. In your mind, it’s always cloudy and raining; everything is at a standstill. But the truth is: there are still sunny days even when you are sad, and the world is still functioning as you go through the motions. So SNAP OUT OF IT!!! You’re going to have to live in reality again at some point, so here are ways to get to your happier self faster.

Buy yourself some flowers

They’re pretty and the floral scent is soothing.

Take a day to give yourself a spa treatment.

Relaxing and pampering decreases your anxiety! Get out the face masks and bath bombs :)

Watch your favorite movies and drink a glass of wine.

Favorite movies will trigger nostalgia, making you feel all warm and fuzzy inside… the wine will make you feel warm too!

Spend time with your friends, but also spend time by yourself too.

It’s really important that when you’re upset for a long period of time that you don’t cut out all your friendships from your life. However, you also have to make sure you spend some quality time with yourself so that you’re able to reflect!

Find a hobby that you are passionate about.

Finding your passion will immediately make you want to get up in the morning– you’ll have your “purpose.” So find something you love! Painting, singing, sports, etc.

Take a walk outside.

Get some fresh air, it’s good for you.

Pet a dog or curl up with your cat.

Petting an animal is one of the top ways to reduce stress, anxiety, and sadness!

Take a long shower and sing your heart out.

Warm showers relax your muscles and decrease tension. Singing opens your airways and forces you to breathe. Put them together and you are now a rockstar in your very own bathroom.

Exercise. Sweat it off.

“Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.” Legally Blonde

Write in a journal to let out and keep track of your thoughts.

This is very therapeutic and will help you to understand yourself better through reflection of your thoughts.

Eat your favorite foods.

Bon appetit!

Try something new.

Put yourself out there and try something! You might even find your new passions.

Getting out of a slum is easy, you can do it! Just try your hardest to focus on the happy things in life and don’t be afraid to be a little selfish– pamper yourself! Go get your “happy” on :)
