An Ode To Women

Fifty-one percent of the time

I wish I were a boy anyway.

The other forty-nine percent

I’m usually scheming of ways to find food

At all hours of the day.

We’re caught up in a web

Of societal shames.

That include the overly emotional

Pretty faces, must-get-married,

And feminist games.

Frankly, I don’t want to hear it.

If I were male I would get paid more,

Running would be tremendously easier,

And it would probably be more socially acceptable

To walk into an establishment in a morphsuit than an eyesore.

With all of that being said though,

I wouldn’t change who I am for anything in the world.

Being female is a part of my identity.

We are intoxicating, attractive, mesmerizing beings.

Independence, strong-will, and compassion unfurled.

Majestic, crazy, and weird all at the same time.

Shopping in both sections of H&M for pants

Is where it’s at.

And in the end

We get cheaper car insurance.

Or maybe none of who I am

Has anything to do with my gender.

Maybe I would still be a weird, bookish thug

Who couldn’t make decisions to save my life

If I were a boy in all his splendor.

But I do know that if I weren’t a woman,

I certainly wouldn’t be the same person I am today.

Regardless of gender,

Embrace who you are.

Okay?
