I’ve never been a big football fan so I don’t know much about the Super Bowl, but I do know two things: I like to eat Super Bowl snacks and I like to see what people are saying online about the Super Bowl.

As a Swiftie, this was a big game for me, too! Congrats Taylor’s boyfriend! Viva Las Vegas or whatever. Speaking of Taylor, she brought quite the entourage with her, including Lana Del Ray, Blake Lively, and none other than Ice Spice, whom Jason Kelce had the pleasure of meeting. This sent the Internet into a frenzy, wondering just how that interaction went down.

“What does grrah mean,” X-user(formerly Twitter) outthewoodsyet captioned the photo. Another user, TomZohar, wrote “Rooster and Lily St. Regis when they came to kidnap Annie.” That one’s for you, former theater girls.

For children and other non-football-educated audiences like me… but mostly for children, Nickelodeon hosted their own Super Bowl game with characters like Dora and Boots and Spongebob and Patrick there to explain the rules of the game. There were many high-profile guests in attendance, including Herring Styles, Megan Thee Sturgeon, and Olivia Codrigo.

And now for the Halftime show, the real main event some might say. The Internet had a lot to say about Usher’s performance but I’ll keep it brief:

-Usher dripping sweat… Sweaty girls know this pain. Could someone not have handed him a towel though like his eyes had to have been burning!

-Usher on roller skates! This quickly caused a meme of Family Guy’s Peter Griffin on skates to circulate.

-That hug between Usher and Alicia Keys!!!!!

-People (me included) thinking Jermaine Dupree was CeeLo Green at first glance. Maybe next year.

Of course, I was also primarily watching for the commercials. Michael Cera’s CeraVe campaign? Genius marketing. The amount of Temu commercials? Scary. The fact that that’s how you actually pronounce Temu? Pretending I didn’t hear that. And lastly, the Hellman’s Mayo cat! I saw a video on TikTok of him (his name is Chipmunk!) and his mom watching the commercial during the game and she was so excited and proud! They even had matching Chiefs jerseys, it just doesn’t get any cuter than that!

I did feel very sad watching the 49ers after their loss as red and gold confetti rained down around them and their sad faces #empath. But whether your team won or lost, or whether you’re like me and don’t particularly care who wins, I think that hearing how everyone else is feeling about the Super Bowl makes watching the game even more fun. Whether you’re in it for the game itself, the Halftime show, the commercials, Taylor Swift, or the memes, the Super Bowl truly has something for everyone.

Samantha Cavallo is in her third year as a writer for Her Campus. She enjoys writing about anything and everything, though her pieces often focus on celebrities and pop culture or mental health and wellbeing. Sam is currently a junior at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, and she is from Langhorne, Pennsylvania. After earning her Bachelor's degree, she plans to pursue a PhD in School Psychology. Beyond Her Campus, she is involved in many organizations on campus that focus on supporting the campus community, such as the Wellness Ambassadors, where she works in Health Promotions to promote the Nine Dimensions of Wellness, and the Student Support Foundation, operating the campus food pantry and providing emergency grants to students, faculty, and staff in need. In her free time, Sam enjoys reading, going to Barre class, finding new things to do in and around the Orlando area, especially if there is rumored to be good food, and Facetiming her dog Dexter. She is a major fan of both Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers (she even got it tattooed to prove it) and loves going to concerts, and of course dressing up for them.
