By now, I’m sure we’ve all heard about the magical powers of Olivia Wilde’s salad dressing. You know, the one that had Jason Sudeikis throwing himself under Olivia’s car and made Harry Styles fall in love with her. The recipe comes from Rom-Com Queen Nora Ephron’s 1983 novel Heartburn and is as follows:
- “Mix two tablespoons of Grey Poupon mustard with two tablespoons of good red wine vinegar. Then, constantly whisk with a fork, slowly add six tablespoons of olive oil, until the vinaigrette is thick and creamy; this makes a very strong vinaigrette that’s perfect for salad greens like arugula and watercress and endive.”
This super simple recipe is great to toss with a salad for a quick lunch or dinner, but be careful because, as we know from Olivia, it will have men falling at your feet.
The Hadid sisters have also made headlining news over their recipes, Gigi first with her spicy vodka pasta, and more recently, Bella with her sandwich recipe. Something about calling pasta alla vodka the “Gigi Hadid Pasta” does not sit right with me; maybe it’s the Italian in me. Still, I’m pretty sure she has single-handedly revolutionized this pasta as a Gen Z dish. Here’s Gigi’s recipe from an Instagram story posted in 2020:
- (Serving size- 2)
- In a large saucepan, heat ¼ cup olive oil. Add a small clove of garlic, diced, & ¼ shallot. Cook till soft.
- Add ¼ cup of tomato paste. Cook until darker/ a bit caramelized.
- Add one tbsp of vodka and cook until almost evaporated.
- Add ½ cup of heavy cream & one tsp of red pepper flakes. Keep stirring until combined, then season with salt & pepper.
- Remove sauce from heat.
- Then cook pasta. Save ¼ cup pasta water before draining.
- Add pasta, ¼ cup of pasta water and one tbsp of butter to the saucepan. Stir over medium heat till the butter has melted & the sauce is “sauccyyyyy.”
- Add ¼ cup parmesan cheese & stir. Add salt & pepper to taste.
Bella Hadid’s sandwich first made its online debut in September. Still, she shared that she and her BFF Yasmine have been making these sandwiches since high school. Bella finally has given up the recipe in a very chaotic TikTok that I had to watch about five times might I add, so now we can all see what we’ve been missing out on:
- Mix olive oil, balsamic glaze, salt, oregano, chili flakes, pepper, and dried basil.
- Make your basil aioli. Combine mayonnaise, garlic, mustard, and basil.
- Mix chopped red onion and shredded lettuce. Add lemon juice.
- Spread the basil aioli on one side of the baguette. On the other side, add pepperoncini, lettuce, and onion. On top of that, spread your olive oil mixture and add red wine vinegar.
- Add turkey, salami, cheese, and tomatoes if you’re a tomato person (unlike Bella). Fold together and cut.
Lastly, Florence Pugh, who, as of late, has been the subject of many headlines alongside Olivia Wilde, has not one recipe but a whole slew of them. When she’s not busy filming, the actress loves to don her apron and take us all on a culinary journey via Instagram story, which she saves to her Highlights, with what she calls “Cooking with Flo.” For more adventurous chefs, you can follow along with Flo as she cooks up delicious meals like a Sunday roast or stuffed peppers.
Whether you’re brand new to cooking or a culinary genius, these recipes are sure to satisfy your taste buds.
