It’s nothing new (see what I did there) to say that Taylor Swift is rerecording her masters. Up next on the Taylor’s Version docket is 1989TV, which will be released on October 27th. The album includes the 16 songs from the original 1989, plus five new vault songs: “Slut!”, “Say Don’t Go”, “Now That We Don’t Talk”, “Suburban Legends”, and “Is It Over Now?” Obviously, this calls for celebration. Here’s everything you need to throw the ultimate album release party:

Attire

Friendship bracelets. Duh. There’s tons of great ideas on TikTok for bracelet-making inspiration. Since the start of the Eras Tour, these bracelets have gotten more and more creative.

Beyond bracelets, the dress code can go one of two ways. You could stick with the New York City vibes of the original 1989, or opt to dress in the new beachier theme of the 1989TV promo. And of course, Taylor merch is acceptable as well. Some might even say you should put on your best dress (the puns just write themselves).

Food and Drink

To welcome 1989 into the Taylor’s Version club, task each of your friends with creating a food board and/or a drink to match each of the existing TV albums (Fearless, Red, and Speak Now) and, of course, 1989 too.

I think one of the most essential items for the party is the cake. One of those Pinterest-y vintage heart cakes would be perfect with blue icing and some 1989 lyrics written on top. My favorite one I’ve seen used the line “Boys only want love if it’s torture” from “Blank Space.”

Polaroid Pictures

No party is complete without the photos to prove it and it’s only fitting for our 1989TV party to be shot on polaroid. Bust out that old camera and show off your Taylor-inspired outfits. Be sure to recreate the OG album cover!

Bonus: Go see an evening showing of the Eras Tour movie (again) for some extra preparation before the album drops.

I think Taylor herself would agree that this is how the album deserves to be welcomed! Honestly, you don’t even need an album release to have a Taylor Swift party, she’ll never go out of style (I just can’t help myself).

Samantha Cavallo is in her third year as a writer for Her Campus. She enjoys writing about anything and everything, though her pieces often focus on celebrities and pop culture or mental health and wellbeing. Sam is currently a junior at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, and she is from Langhorne, Pennsylvania. After earning her Bachelor's degree, she plans to pursue a PhD in School Psychology. Beyond Her Campus, she is involved in many organizations on campus that focus on supporting the campus community, such as the Wellness Ambassadors, where she works in Health Promotions to promote the Nine Dimensions of Wellness, and the Student Support Foundation, operating the campus food pantry and providing emergency grants to students, faculty, and staff in need. In her free time, Sam enjoys reading, going to Barre class, finding new things to do in and around the Orlando area, especially if there is rumored to be good food, and Facetiming her dog Dexter. She is a major fan of both Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers (she even got it tattooed to prove it) and loves going to concerts, and of course dressing up for them.
