Trump’s presidency has been filled with a lot of ups and downs downs, so the new Biden presidency is something we’ve all been looking forward to with anticipation- here are the top five things you can look forward to in the next four years!

The Truth

I hate to say it, but for four years we had a president who didn’t believe in science. He believed in whatever would help him achieve more and more power. Biden believes in science and will follow expert opinions rather than firing a health task force right before a global pandemic. Trump’s meaningless ramblings on social media (that are often flagged for misinformation) will be no more! The White House accounts will put out encouraging, truthful information, bringing the country together over facts.

A President Who Isn’t a Joke to Other Nations

When the news of Biden’s projected victory broke, leaders of other nations tweeted out about his big win. Since Trump’s run for the presidency in 2016, the United States has gained a global reputation for having a clown in charge of the country. The country that other nations used to look up to has quickly become frowned upon. With the rise of Biden, hopefully we can take back whatever dignity our country has left and build a nation we’re proud of again!

Keeping Our Planet Alive

During the Trump presidency, the United States left the Paris Accord despite scientists knowledge of the earth’s imminent warming. Biden has promised to rejoin the Paris Accord and revamp it with more power by placing it high on the docket in the first one hundred days of his term. Though Biden says he has no plans to ban fracking, he has said multiple times that he will put in place a series of environmental restrictions to make our EARTH great again.

A Role Model

I have an eight-year-old sister who knew nothing about Trump prior to the election, and when it came time for me to explain his character to her, I was speechless. How do you tell a child that the person running our country has tens of rape allegations, has said to “grab women by their pussies”, and has numerously insulted non-white Americans? There’s no way to accurately describe the 45th president without forcing a child to lose their innocence. The Biden presidency gives me hope for the next generation of girls who will grow up looking at the first female vice president.

Diversity

Kamala Harris is the first woman of color to hold the Vice Presidency position in the United States. This is history in the making and it’s only the beginning. Biden has promised the United States to create a cabinet that makes our country proud: diverse and representative of our strong moral foundations and values.

It’s easy to say the hard work is over but this is only the beginning. We need to use this as a stepping stone because four years won’t erase the misogyny that Trump has churned up while President. We have a limited amount of time to save the planet and we need to be leaders to make a difference. It’s time to get involved and be the role models you want your future kids to look up to. In a democracy, righteousness is up to the people. It’s up to us.
