4 Podcasts that Will Make You Laugh Your A** Off

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rollins chapter.

Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend

Conan O’brien is a classic icon and long-time fixture in the late night television game, so his comedy writing style will never get old. His podcast opens with playful banter and discussions that are so random you can’t help but crack up. After some hilarious chatter between Conan and his staff, they bring out their weekly guest. Instead of asking interview questions, this podcast makes you feel like you’re casually eavesdropping on two celebrities grabbing a beer. The conversation flows as the staff and guests bicker, tease and reminisce casually. Warning- don’t drive and listen, because I guarantee you will be laughing too hard to steer.

Best episodes:  #50 (John Mulaney), #54 (Nikki Glaser),#63 (Will Arnett), #67 (Kevin Nealon), #85 (Maya Rudolph)

Andrea Savage: A Grown-Up Woman #Buttholes

If you haven’t watched Andrea Savage’s ingenuously hilarious series “I’m Sorry” on Netflix, binge those two seasons and hop on this podcast. As an aspiring comedy writer, Savage is my ultimate role model. Her sense of humour is random and obscure in a way that makes the corners of your mouth turn into a big old silly grin. She opens each episode with her guest introducing themselves by demonstrating how they say the word “buttonholes.” Savage’s childlike spirit will de-stress you and make you want to become her best friend at the same time.

Best episodes:  #10 + #11 (Paul Rudd parts one & two), #16 (Jimmy Pardo), #18 (Kaitlin Olson)

Jeremiah Wonders

This podcast makes me roll on the floor laughing. Jeremiah Watkins one of the most witty stand-up comics in the game right now. His impersonations are his strong suit, and this podcast will hit the spot if you’re an improv freak like me. Watkins and his guests do bits, create characters, and tell hilarious stories together in silly voices. If you’re a fan of truly goofy, wacky comedy this is the podcast for you!

Best episodes: #117 (Joel “Joelberg” Jimenez), #119 (Tim Dillon), #148 (Sara Weinshenk & Kim Congdon)

Smartless

Smartless is a clever conversational pod starring my top two celebrity crushes (Jason Bateman and Will Arnett) and comedian Sean Hayes. The format is unique because one host chooses the guest and doesn’t tell the other two hosts who it is until they arrive. This is a cute added element of surprise, but the highlight of this podcast is listening to these three comedy icons crack jokes with their string of A-list celebrity guests.

Best episodes: # 3 (Melissa McCarthy), # 9 (Jimmy Kimmel), #17 (Conan O’Brien)

Meredith Klenkel is a Senior English major and the founder of Her Campus at Rollins. She aspires to write comedy for late night T.V one day and publish her own memoirs.
