1. When did you become a member of CAC/what made you so interested in the club?
I became a member of CAC first semester of my freshman year. Like many people, I have had close family members affected by cancer, and CAC created an opportunity for me to get involved in a cause that I was very attached to.1.
2.  What is the mission of CAC?
The mission of CAC as posted on our website is “a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by initiating and supporting programs for cancer education in college communities. The goal of our student-run club is to promote cancer awareness through a variety of events and activities, and to fundraise for the American Cancer Society throughout the year.”

3.   What do you hope to achieve as president?
As president my main goal has been to take the common passion of fighting cancer that the members of CAC have, and to push that passion even further, allowing us to raise even more money and awareness on campus, and in turn allowing us to run even better events than we have in the past.
4.  What are your biggest events?
During the school year we have several major events. Starting in October we have a “Think Pink Week,” which is a week dedicated to breast cancer awareness where we have a “pink” carnival and “pink” dinner. In November we take part in the Great American Smoke Out, which is a day dedicated to getting people to stop smoking. In December we run an event called “Shaved to Save” where we encourage people to sponsor their friends to shave or donate large amounts of their hair. Our biggest event of the year is called Relay for Life. This is an event that we plan for all year, where teams raise money for the American Cancer Society. The actual event is a 12 hour, all night program where we have three ceremonies, “Celebrate,” “Remember,” and “Fight Back,” in addition to fun games, concerts, and refreshments throughout the night. Last year we raised over 60,000 dollars.
