What activities are you involved in on campus?

Varsity Lacrosse, Vice President of Panhellenic Conduct, Order of Omega, Campus Times, and Athletic Communications.  I am also in a sorority, but due to the fact that I have to dissafiliate for recruitment I cannot divulge which one.

What was the process like to start Her Campus for Rochester?
Last year, an Alumna of my sorority e-mailed our chapter president saying she knew the co-founders of Her Campus and they were looking to start a branch at Rochester and she urged one of us to apply. I was abroad in Barcelona when I got the e-mail, and upon reading it my friend Kaitlin asked me if I wanted to apply together.  I was so excited because I had been reading Her Campus since the summer and really wanted to start my own branch.  Kaitlin and I decided she would do the PR side of it and I would do the writing/editing.  We had to apply and be accepted by the founders of Her Campus and then had to create a line up for our first weeks material.  Then we had to work on recruiting writers for us, which is by far the hardest part.

Is it difficult balancing so many different responsibilities?
I love to be busy.  It is hard for me not to have a packed schedule because then I find I am less efficient if I have all the time in the world to complete my few tasks.  Although, sometimes I do wish I wasn’t constantly running from meeting to meeting.  This year has been a bit harder than other just because now the pressure is on to find a job, which is an ongoing task.

How has being a part of a team as well as Greek life influenced your time at Rochester?
Both my team and my chapter have made my college experience. I love having two different outlets and they balance me out just right.  Although being a member of a varsity sport can be time consuming, I cannot imagine a better out of classroom learning experience.  I am constantly challenged physically and mentally, and it has made me such a strong individual.  It has really taught me the true meaning of teamwork, and that without all members of a group working together, there can be no success.  As a member of the Greek community, I am given leadership, social, networking, and philanthropic opportunities, all of which I have taken advantage of. I am thankful for the ability to work on my leadership skills on the Panhellenic Executive Council and to be able to have an impact on my fellow students.  Through my position as VP of Conduct, I have been forced to step up as a leader and, although this has been a challenge, it is a challenge I have welcomed and succeeded at.  I have learned that by bringing together people from different backgrounds, and in my case chapters, there are a variety of different views and ideas to be heard.

What are some final things you want to do before graduation?
I definitely need to go to the top of the library, because I still have yet to do that.  I want to explore more Rochester restaurants because I love great food.  I want to have the best season of my career on a personal and team level.  Most of all, I just want to enjoy my last year of college with my friends.

With all your internship experience and participation in groups on campus you must have a lot of different options for after college, what is your ideal situation for next year?
Well my dream job is to work at a magazine, but realistically I am hoping to work in DC or NYC in the political realm.  I am keeping my options open!
