Hell Hath No Fury Like…A Midterm?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rider chapter.
Midterms are like the start of spring, they lurk just around the corner. In preparation for this stressful time mid-semester, I have put together a list of tips gained from my experience as a double major and tutor.

Organize
This is a piece of advice often given, but its importance is undervalued. To know where everything is and when all of your commitments are is a valuable tool as a student.  It does not matter if your method is in a planner, a smart phone or even a sticky pad, being organized can and will help you to succeed.

Start Early
If time is an issue as it tends to be when you have 5 classes, other commitments and a social life too, to take early is a good idea because the time spent is spread out.
For example that midterm is in two weeks, start studying now (or after you finish reading this article) to ensure you learn the material over a few 30 minute study sessions rather than spending the 12 hours before the test cramming as much as possible.

Review
Sean Alphonse, a classmate and fellow Spanish major reminded me of some important advice. Your class notes are one of the best resources you have as a study tool. Reread them and reword them in your own words to make sure that you really know the material.

Reward Yourself
When you are working hard and feeling underappreciated, do something to show yourself how much you care.  A short trip to the mall, a manicure or even a little time to read something fun are great ways to pamper yourself a little.
