Must Visit Haunted Houses in the 901

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rhodes chapter.

With Halloween around the corner, there’s no way better to be festive than spending a night screaming bloody murder in a haunted house. Lucky for us Rhodents, there are several haunted houses just a few miles away from campus. Now, I know Halloween isn’t for the light hearted, and many of you guys are probably wondering why you would pay to have someone scare the crap out of you. There are such a variety of haunted attractions around the Memphis area, there is definitely something for everyone. So, I decided to list the popular haunted attractions around the Memphis area and rank them based on how scary they actually are. I’d like to consider myself a haunted house expert, and I endorse that these haunted attractions will be sure to make your Halloween the scariest one yet.

4. Memphis Haunted Corn Maze

I have been going to the haunted corn maze since I was about 12 years old. So if this scares you as a college student, you should probably just stay at home this Halloween. Just kidding :). The Haunted Cornmaze is just a short ride away from campus and is located at the Agricenter. There’s something for everyone here and they even have a haunted hay ride. The main attraction is the haunted corn maze itself which is open every weekend night (may I add it is in the shape of Marc Gasol this year #grizznation).

3. Spooky Nights

Spooky nights is hosted every year at the Shelby Farms Park and is definitely worth the drive. The haunted trail is 2 entire miles long and it is sure to make you scream at least a few times! I would definitely recommended going in big groups to make it even more fun! It is the only haunted trail in Memphis so you have to check it out.

2. Haunted Web of Horrors

If you’re in the mood for a good scream, I would definitely recommend the Haunted Web of Horrors! The killer clown that stalks its way through this haunted house will definitely give you nightmares for at least a week. Also, on Sundays nights you can check out the “lights out” tour of the Haunted Web of Horrors…. If you dare.

1. Wicked Ways Haunted House

Now, this is definitely not your average haunted house. Wicked Ways Haunted House is by far the scariest haunted attraction in the MidSouth. They like to say that the person you are when you enter the Haunted House is not the same person who leaves. So seriously proceed with caution. But on a lighter note, proceeds from the attraction go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital so it is definitely for a great cause!

My name is Arianna and Im a sophomore at Rhodes College!
Hi! I'm Nathalie Vacheron, a senior at Rhodes hailing from Germantown, Tennessee. I love to write, I love to edit, and I'm in love with the voice Her Campus gives to women across college campuses. In addition to Her Campus, I'm involved in my sorority, Tri Delta, work in the Counseling/Health Center, am a First Year mentor, and love to run when I can. I'm a Business & Commerce major concentrating in management with a minor in Psychology. I hope to go into health administration, community health, or work for a non-profit (and write a book somewhere in-between...) xoxo
