As I grow older, I realize how important and necessary spring break actually is for you. When I was younger, I looked at spring break as a time for me to go to the beach and get some sun because my body hadn’t gotten adequate sunlight for a few months straight. In high school, especially senior year, it was a week where I could go to the beach with my closest friends and have the best week of my life. However, there is a deeper meaning of spring break to me now.

Spring break is a time for you to spend with family. I know that after winter break, we don’t think we need to see our parents again for at least another month, but once I was home, I realized how wrong I am about this. I couldn’t be happier to see my family and give my dog lots of attention. Sometimes the simplest things are the most helpful. You never know when you need that extra feeling of comfort in your life again.

The week is a time of relaxation. It doesn’t matter if you are going to the beach or ten museums, you are bound to find a break from reality. I know in these few months after the New Year, a time to unwind and focus on other things in life is needed. There is usually no stress or school work due, so spring break gives you time to do much-needed self-care and catch up on necessary sleep.

Traveling during spring break allows for more exploration and learning opportunities. I feel myself wanting to go on more educational trips as I get older because I want to see different parts of history and of the world. This year I am visiting Washington, D.C. with my dad, and I am so excited to learn more about the history of this country. It is important to travel in order to have a better understanding of the world around you and I think spring break allows for the perfect time to do just that.

Lastly, spring break is a time to catch up. You don’t need to go to the beach or to an amusement park in order to have the best spring break ever. Sometimes the simplest things are always the nicest things, such as seeing old friends or spending time with family who doesn’t normally visit you at school. It is a week that allows you to remember what makes you love being home so much and what you have been missing while you were at school.

Please remember to be safe this spring break, but have the best time!
