How Pinterest Can Get You a Better Body

Pinterest has literally become my savior and light in the times of my binge-eating, caffeine consuming, fat-filled college days. If you don’t know what Pinterest is, Pinterest is an online pinboard where people from all over can post “pins” of different things. For example pins concerning food, art, photography, makeup, fashion, cars, film and my personal favorite, health. Now how does Pinterest tie in my health? It has literally given me the blessing of becoming a more in-shape college student that helped me avoid the Freshman 15 my freshman year, and is helping me avoid my Sophomore [insert large number here]. So what’s the secret?

Pinterest allows you to create your own boards unique to you. While my boards range from places I want to go to delicious food recipes I said I would try but probably isn’t going to happen, I also created a “Motivation for Health” board in order to get myself in shape. The best part is, most of the exercises you do can be done in the comfort of your own dorm room.

Pinners pin different exercises on the health/fitness board which end up being easy to do and sometimes even fun. Have you ever done the Harry Potter workout? Perfect for those ABC Family Harry Potter marathons! Either way, these exercises are designed to help get your body more toned and into shape with simple exercises that you can do for 30 minutes to an hour a day. Pick and choose which workouts you want to focus on on different days. Prioritize and organize your exercise routines. Mondays can be focused on working on your abs: do an abs workout off of Pinterest.
Tuesdays can be cardio: cardio workouts available on Pinterest. The possibilities are endless and if you’re willing to put the time and effort into working out for at least 30 minutes a day, you will start seeing gradual results.

My biggest advice is to pick out a few workouts to do every day. What I personally do is that I choose 2-3 different workouts and do those all at once. My favorite series of exercises to do are one abs workout, one leg workout and one arm workout either every day or 5 times a week. When I want something more fun, I might pop on the TV and watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians and do the Kardashians Workout (yes that actually exists: 2 jumping jacks for every time Bruce complains). The great thing about these workouts is that they’re simple and short so anyone can do them, even beginners. There’s always going to be a workout that works for you, you just to explore a little and stick with it. Make a Pinterest and create a board for yourself! Pin the exercises you feel as though you are able to do consistently.

Remember, working out is an effort and it’s up to whether or not you’re going to stick with it. As a college student, I know there are days when you just want to sleep after a long day of classes. But rather than complaining, do something about it. Devote and designate some time out of your schedule to work out. Find healthier eating options, but don’t starve yourself. Make it a conscious effort to stay healthy and in shape. Because by the time Spring Break rolls on by, you’ll be able to flaunt all those months of hard-work and say, “Yes my body is sexy and I know it!”
