With fall slowly making its way around the corner and the temperatures changing to the perfect mix of breezy and cool, comes HC Rhodes’ fall date ideas. Rhodes, being located in the heart of Memphis, offers some of the greatest places to enjoy that special one-on-one with that one special guy in your life. As cheesy as it sounds, why not enjoy a nice, fall day enjoying the beauties Memphis has to offer? Here are some great date ideas for all you ladies to enjoy!
- Mud Island – If you’re a hopeless romantic, this may be the perfect date idea for you. What sounds better than a nice hot cup of coffee, a blanket, a cuddle buddy and watching the sunset at Mud Island? It’s like a scene from a cheesy, romance movie but let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to experience that at least once in their lifetime?
- Memphis Zoo – Rhodents, take advantage of your free admission into the Memphis Zoo on Tuesdays. Nothing is better than “free” and it saves your guy $30 worth of tickets. It’s the perfect way to take a nice walk around the zoo and imagine yourselves on an adventure in a jungle
of exotic animals. On the other hand, he may become jealous when you get to the sea otters because, I mean, those sea otters are to die for. You just can’t keep your eyes off them! - Levitt Shell – If you haven’t heard of Levitt Shell, then you need to know about it…NOW. Levitt Shell brings musicians from all over for free concerts open to the public. Levitt Shell is literally right by campus at Overton Park and music is another language of love. Not only do you get to spend time with your significant other jamming out to awesome music, but you also get exposed to different musicians, all bringing their own diverse takes on music! - Trolley Ride – For those who love sightseeing and old ways of transportation, take a nice trolley ride through Main Street. It’s a fun way to explore Memphis, especially if you have yet to view the attractions Memphis has to offer. And if you take the Riverfront Loop Trolley, you can make way to Mud Island. Then you can kill two birds with one stone with one big date: Trolley Riding to Mud Island to end the night!
- FedEx Forum – Definitely a date guys would enjoy! Head over to the FedEx Forum in Downtown Memphis and watch a Memphis Grizzlies game. Sometimes Rhodes gives out free Grizzlies tickets through the Big Diehl program, so utilize the program whenever you get the chance! Otherwise, tickets are on sale online so book them fast!
- People-watching at the Peabody Hotel – Because people-watching is really fun. What better way to bond than pointing out the unique characteristics of the people roaming around the Peabody Hotel. The atmosphere, especially at night, is romantic and you can even enjoy dinner at the resturants located in the Peabody. Then again, dinner at the Peabody might burn a hole in your date’s pocket, so maybe just sit back and enjoy the lobby music that plays sweetly in the night?
- Bike Ride for Two – Something to take advantage of at Rhodes: The Bike Shop. The Bike Shop at Rhodes lets students rent bicycles for free and keep them for up to two weeks. Biking is a fun way to get great exercise and of course there’s room for a little biking competition. Memphis is beautiful and a bike date would be a relaxing and energizing activity. What a great way to relieve stress!
- Grubbing on Memphis BBQ – Does this need an explanation? Boys love girls with big appetites and nothing is better than Memphis BBQ, period.
WARNING***: Only for girls comfortable enough to grub on BBQ in front of boys. It can get messy ya’ll.
Honestly, there are so many things to do in Memphis. No matter what you end up doing, Memphis offers some of the greatest places to enjoy dates. And the beautiful fall weather makes it even better.
