For almost anyone who grew up in the 2000s, the past few months have been intense: Not only was Princess Diaries 3 and Space Jam 2 announced, but arguably the most important “throwback”/long-awaited moment came to pass. The Jonas Brothers got back together and released their new single.

We all know this needs to be discussed.  So here are my top factors that make the Jonas Brothers revival and new song “Sucker” one of if not THE BEST band revival moments of this generation.

Factor #3: Nostalgia.

Let’s face it – the Jonas may not have been the most EPIC musicians, but if you went to a concert or listened to their music, you did it to encounter some straight up feel-good tunes that you knew would be stuck in your head for hours. (I haven’t heard “Year 3000” in years and I could STILL sing it word for word. Don’t even get me started on “Burnin’ Up”). Listening to their new single excites old fans (who in turn look forward to hearing more), while it also draws in new fans. To hear such a fun part of your childhood, not just return, but also with a great sound, gives an excitement like no other! And that leads me into…..

Factor #2: Addictive Sound

Admittedly, anyone who has seen the music video for their new song would likely agree that the music at times is really not what your focus goes to…. (*clear throat) but that does not in any way dismiss its great sound. From the moment Nick sings that first falsetto note, listeners are drawn in. “We go together, better than birds of a feather you and me” … It’s almost as if you can’t help but smile and know you’re in for a great song. It has a distinct sound that truly highlights their fresh step and new journey as a band. Its lyrical “cuteness” and lovability includes the chorus line “… you’re making the typical me break my typical rules. I’m a sucker for you.” Especially paired with the dance moves in their video, Sucker carries an addictive melody that can’t be heard or watched only once. That leads me to last but not least….

Factor #1: Incredible Imagery

As a visual person, I may be a bit biased on this one, but a huge reason “Sucker” is such a momentous and awesome reunion is the band’s visual chemistry. Not only did they put together a memorable music video, but they included their significant others, adding an extra layer of awesomeness. Seeing the band back in action was a priceless moment that was only added by the colorful and intriguing video. They seemed to keep their old charm and “Level Up” at the same time. A great combination.

What I found truly interesting about this revival is how widespread and spontaneous it seemed. I was not one of the people that was brokenhearted when the group broke up, nor was I waiting and overhyped with the rumor/announcement that they were back together. I was more like “Wow, that’s cool. I wonder what they’ll sound like…” But after their release of “Sucker”, I am SO excited – both for their future music and their performances. Whether you were a die-hard Jo Bro fan, or are just finding out who they are, you’re almost guaranteed to enjoy this new era for the Jonas Brothers.

So if you haven’t already, what are you waiting for?? Check out The Jonas Brothers new single, “Sucker” and let us know what you think!
