So, last week, I talked about staying on track and being productive, even over a much needed break. Now, I’m gonna talk about this on a more personal level. It’s time to set down all my plans for spending winter break!
While these are just my own plans, you might get some inspiration on how to fill your own time before classes start again. At the very least, you’ll get an idea of some of the articles I will be writing over break.
Work, Unfortunately
Yeah, this is the less fun way to spend a break, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. I’m going to be returning to my local retail job, which should be an absolute joy over Consumer-mas. Oh well. I’ve recently started to really value my independence, so having my own spending money is not only a necessity, it is also, in some small way, a source of joy. I love knowing that I am not draining my parents’ bank account and rather growing my own. Feels good, y’all.
K-DRAMAS FTW
Now we get to the fun stuff! I may not have already mentioned my intense love affair with South Korean dramas, but I will now! I love those things. They’ve got the drama, the fluff, the romance, the angst, and some pretty fun premises. Unfortunately, they’ve usually also got hour long episodes. This means that during the semester, especially towards the end, I have no time to binge my favorite shows. Break is the perfect time for me to indulge and get to the end of some shows I started ages ago as well as start some of the ones my friends have recommended to me. So, stay tuned for some reviews and such over the rest of break!
The Read Feed
I used to read a lot as a kid, but since about the junior year of high school, I just sort of stopped. However, since becoming an English major about a semester ago, I’ve had to get back into the habit and practice of reading, and it has been shamefully difficult. So, I have a goal for this break. I will be reading a book a week. At least. Not only will I need to get back my reading skills just to complete my degree, I also want to fall back in love with reading again. I used to read books like I breathed oxygen; I was almost never seen without a book in my hand. So, again, expect updates on how that goes! Hopefully, that will keep me accountable to that goal. Fingers crossed!
Miss Claus
So, like many of you, I’m kinda broke right now. My summer work money has reached the end and I am not in the position to go out and buy a lot of presents. But that’s perfectly alright. Sometimes I enjoy finding creative ways to give gifts on a budget, and that’s definitely going to be happening this Christmas. There are going to be a DIY project or two as well as some re-gifting, maybe even an upcycle, who knows. Either way, I look forward to figuring that out and I’ll probably post something about that as the month goes on.
Alright, so now that you have a quick glimpse into my life for the next month or so, as well as a sneak peek into what content to expect from me, I’ll leave you with this quote: “You throw away the substance from which life is made of when you waste time” – Sunday Adelaja. So, make the most of your break, by either enjoying yourself, doing something for others, or being productive. Happy Winter Break.
