This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

It seems like every time we turn around there is a new trend and we have to ask the same question: Can I actually pull that off? Many girls are clueless how to go about blending in their latest risky purchase into their normal wardrobe. What started out as an exciting new item quickly becomes frightening and ends up being shoved behind those awkward presents no one wears.

Leather leggings seem like one of these impossible trends. Skin-tight leather or pleather? Sounds unflattering and uncomfortable. This writer has personal experience though. They are surprisingly easy to wear. The leather look gives legs a streamlined look. Here are some ways to incorporate the trend of leather leggings into your everyday look!

Style Me…Preppy

Taking the edginess of these leggings into a clean, preppy look is actually quite simple. With your leggings as a base, add a button down in any color and a pullover or cardigan sweater in a complementary shade. For this look, focus on bright colors to combat the seriousness of your bottoms. A great pop of neon pink, yellow, or blue would add some cheer. Throw on some arm candy with a wristwatch and bangles along with a great tote to complete your outfit.

Style Me…Cozy

Update your lazy day look, by making the switch from typical cotton leggings to their leather twins. Continuing on this comfy cute look add in an oversized knit sweater in any shade and your favorite flats. Finish it off with a messy top-knot and stud earrings. This simple look makes rolling out of bed for that 8am look effortless.

Style me…Edgy

If you’re feeling extra daring, ramp up your look with an all-black and leather outfit. To add interest to the monotone look, focus on texture; a loose cotton tee or chunky knit sweater under a classic moto jacket adds the right amount of visual interest. Complete your look with some equally tough accessories; black leather boots, studded tote, and mixed metal jewelry pieces.

Style me…Chic

For this one, its best to take a cue from style star Lauren Conrad. Leather leggings have been a staple in LC’s wardrobe for a while now. In this instance, she paired them with chic pumps, a statement blazer, and clean-cut blouse. She keeps her jewelry delicate and her accessories simple. When trying to make leather leggings chic, always look to LC.

Style Me…Boho

With the edition of a few key pieces the edgy-look of leather leggings can be toned down into the relaxed-chic of boho. For this look, the recipe is simple. Start with a loose fitting tank in a neutral shade like black, white, or tan and layer it with an oversized denim shirt.

The finishing touches are the most important part in this look; a felt hat or headband, colorful turquoise and silver jewelry, short suede boots and a hobo bag complete it.
