Although the temperature is only rising slowly, spring has definitely sprung. This means it’s time for the annual “Spring Cleaning” to renew ourselves from the winter’s spell of lethargy. Though some may think of Spring Cleaning as the typical dusting and sweeping (and trust me, these can do wonders for a room), these aren’t the only ways to freshen up. Here are 3 other ideas to make your life more productive and clutter-free.

1. Evaluate your relationships.
Consider your friends and how they treat you. Are some more uplifting than others? Think about sticking closer to those that emit those positive vibes and motivate you to be everything you can be. Like a worn out bra, there’s no use in keeping around the people who can’t or don’t support you.

2. Take a second glance at that resume.
Even if you’re a freshman in college, it’s time to accept the fact that you’re on your way into the real world. Internship opportunities could be lurking around any corner, and you definitely want to be prepared to hand someone your resume and cover letter. If you don’t already have either of these, make one! For those of you who already have resumes, make sure it is up to date or that the format of it is still functional. If you’re still “iffy” about the way your info is presented or just have a question, it can never hurt to pass it on to a professional or professor to give it the seal of approval.

3. How’s your Facebook? What about your Myspace?
Your online presence is so important in today’s business world; so much that it could even be a deciding factor on whether or not you’re hired! Take the time to go through all of your pictures and posts, both tagged and personal to make sure there isn’t anything out there that you wouldn’t want a potential employer to see. Do you have an account with a site you no longer use or receive emails from stores or companies you’re no longer interested in? Find your login info and pay the site a visit to delete or deactivate your account. In the case of unwanted and overlooked emails, look for the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom and click on it. What’s the point in having the clutter in your web browser or inbox when it isn’t even being looked at? This way, you’ll have much more room for the more recent, more important things in your inbox (an internship acceptance email, maybe?).

Don’t forget: as great as these tactics are, a little closet-clearing and vacuuming never hurt anyone either!
