Solange Knowles’ Big Wedding Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

On Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, the Knowles’s welcomed 51-year-old video director Alan Ferguson to their family.  Solange Knowles married her boyfriend of six years in New Orleans with a guest list of around 100 people.  The couple rode their bikes to the Holy Trinity Church where guests dressed in different shades of white awaited them.

Knowles was wearing an all white Stephanie Rolland jumpsuit with an attached white cape.  On the way there, her husband got a flat tire, which the couple laughed off.  They walked the rest of the way.  After arriving at the church, Knowles changed into an allwhite Humberto Leon for Kenzo floor-length gown with a cape.

In attendance was J. Crew creative director and president Jenna Lyons, singer Janelle Monae, older sister Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z with niece Blue Ivy.  Beyoncé seemed to be just a big sister instead of stealing the spotlight.  Jay-Z was taking care of Blue-Ivy while the wedding and reception took place.  They didn’t attend the after party but seemed to enjoy the wedding and guests while they were there.

Attendees say the wedding was beautiful, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.  After the ceremony, the area was transformed into a small reception area, where guests were served a Southern menu including shrimp and grits, oyster and artichoke bisque, paupiette de poulet and bread pudding and pineapple foster for dessert.

Julez, Knowles’ son, came out during the reception to perform with his mother to Rae Sremmurd’s “No Flex Zone.”  You can watch the video here.

Tina Knowles, the bride’s mother, said, “[Julez] only got to come and do the dance and then he had to leave.  Had to go to bed.  It was a grown folk’s party.”  She added, “I got two [grandsons] and a [granddaughter].  Couldn’t ask for better than that.”
