After you’ve worn your pink hair extension, did a 5K Breast Cancer walk, or supported your favorite football team by sporting a pink jersey, there’s still more you can do to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month as it comes to an end!
Here are some facts that were found on the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. website:
-
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their lifetime
-
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women
-
Each year an estimated 220,000 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 of those cases will be fatal.
There are many women who have been affected by breast cancer, but there are tons of foundations, celebrity supporters, local communities, and scientists who are working very hard to find a cure. However, like most things in this world, money is needed not only for basic research but also to create new therapies so that doctors can help women who have the disease.
