Age: 21

What were you asked in your interview before you got the internship at Teen Vogue?
I was asked about my previous experience in the fashion industry, why I wanted to work at Teen Vogue, and what my ultimate career goal was. No crazy out of the ordinary interview questions.

What were some of your duties at Teen Vogue? I served as a liaison between the magazine and various PR firms/clothing designers. I trafficked clothing samples (meaning I picked up and returned clothes) helped maintain the PR database, organized the fashion closet, and assisted fashion department editors and assistants.

What did you learn at your internship? Working at a magazine is not always as glamorous as it looks. It is a lot of hard work, and you have to be incredibly driven.

Did you get to meet anyone special? I saw Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, about 3 times. One time I even rode the elevator with her! She was dressed impeccably as always.

What advice would you give other girls looking for a chance to intern at a magazine?
It’s all about who you know, how much experience you‘ve had, and how talented you truly are. Intern as much as you can and get started early! Don’t wait until the end of your junior year like I did. If you know anyone at all that is somehow involved in the fashion or magazine industry, reach out to them through email and politely ask them if they could assist you or advise you with getting an internship.
