Just the Little Things: Dressing Up for 8 AMs.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

The Eager 8a.m. Female Students.

It’s baffling that anyone could be functioning enough for an 8a.m. class, let alone feel the need to put on a pair of jeans, apply a full face of makeup, and do their hair.

And yet, almost every 8a.m., without fail, there is always at least one girl who feels the need to dress like she’s about to venture into New York City or take her turn down the catwalk at a fashion show.

It’s understood by most college students that when getting ready for an 8a.am. class, preparations should follow a process similar to this:

1)     Wake up at approximately 7:35a.m., give or take a few minutes

2)     Throw on some sweats or yoga pants and a shirt or sweatshirt

3)     Brush your teeth

4)     Grab your bag/backpack and make sure all the books you need are in it

5)     Go to class

Having said this, you almost need to step back and revaluate your life if you’re getting up around 6:45a.m. to make sure you have enough time to perfectly straighten or curl your hair while finding the sweater that looks just right with your new favorite jeans.

In the wise words of my Media Studies 101 professor, “If you are still trying for an 8a.m. class you need to look at your life choices again and realize they’re awful.” It’s something that has almost become a taboo to any college student that you ask; if you try to look decent for an 8a.m. class, you have put yourself into a minority group that others don’t want to tolerate.

As bizarre as it sounds, I can completely vouch for the fact that girls will make snide remarks in regards to girls who actually try to dress nicely for any class before 11a.m. There is no reason for that other than the fact that no girl wants to be showed up by another girl—epically when it’s in an outfit situation with sweatpants and a messy bun v. a sundress and perfect curls.

8a.m. classes are meant for the strong-willed and determined to learn early in the morning, not for an unsolicited fashion show.
