Harry Styles’ Solo Cover: AnOther Man Magazine

Harry Styles has stepped away from his cookie cutter pop star role to debut his new solo interview for AnOther Man Magazine. In an interview conducted over the phone, Chelsea Handler asks Styles about his career, the future of One Direction and touching on personal topics such as religion and kids. The former Beatle, Paul McCartney, gives the 22-year-old advice about breaking away from a boy band. While Harry’s own sister, Gemma Styles, writes an essay about what it was like growing up with Harry as children.

Gemma describes how charismatic the pop star was, even as a child. She recounts cute stories of a young and boisterous Harry, who couldn’t keep the secret of their Mother’s Day gift two seconds before she opened the box. The nostalgic older sister notes the magnetism the star has always had, “Sometimes I look at him now and wonder how he manages to entrance people, skipping about just being himself, but actually he’s always done it- only now more people get to watch,” she writes.

Harry reveals in his interview that One Direction’s hiatus might have just been extended. There are no plans to get back together at the moment. “I would never say we’ll never do anything again but it’s good for us to be exploring different things. Maybe at some point everyone will want to do something again, but its better if it happens naturally,” Styles said.

Unlike former bandmate, Zayn Malik, who left in March of 2015, Harry says he has no regrets from being in One Direction. “The nice thing for me is that I’m not coming away from the band feeling like I wasn’t able to do what I wanted to do. I loved it and it was what I wanted but I’m enjoying writing at the moment, trying new things,” he says.

Recently, Harry has been working on set for Christopher Nolan’s new film, “Dunkirk.” The new art platform has posed as a challenge for the singer, but working with one of the best directors definitely makes the transition easier. “It definitely takes some of the nerves away- you know if you do something wrong he’ll [Nolan] tell you,” Styles told Handler.

As for Harry’s future, he seems to be enjoying the moment. When Handler asks about marriage and family, Harry explains how he’s just enjoying working as of right now. “I can’t wait for a time when that’s a thing for me, I look forward to that in my life,” Styles says, “I’m enjoying being in the studio and doing this movie.”

Styles discussed how he still finds peace in his childhood town with Paul McCartney. “My parents still live where I grew up so that’s one of the places for me where I feel like I disappear the most,” Harry says. McCartney jokingly responds that he will go back to Harry’s home with him.

The two singers then expressed their individual struggle with breaking off from a band and finding their own writing styles. Paul recounts how he had to break away and write something completely different from the Beatles’ sound, just to prove that he could.

Harry Styles is doing just that: branching out of his role as a pop star, exploring roles in film and working on a new solo album. Styles is going to make his mark all around Hollywood and we couldn’t be more excited!
