Getting Spring Break Ready!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

Most of us feel extremely discouraged by the time it comes to think about losing weight for our spring break adventures when we think about how long we have procrastinated. The good news is: you have longer than you think to make a difference if you start NOW. The best advice I can give about getting spring break ready is to start the second you think about it. A solid month can make a world of difference if you’re committed.

If you’re looking to lose some lbs I highly recommend Weight Watchers online. For around $15 a month, you will have a guide to follow every single day. The app allows you to enter every food you eat and gives you a daily allowance based on a points system (There’s more to it that is explained by the website). I’ve used this system and I can personally vouch for its success. If you want to go a cheaper and more holistic route think “eat clean”. The food philosophy doesn’t have to be followed extremely rigorously. Think of the 80/20 rule: If you do what you’re supposed to be doing 80% of the time, you can do whatever you want 20% of the time. Obviously the more you follow an eating plan, the better your results but you get my drift. The best way to think about eating clean is to think of foods that don’t come in a package ex) meats, fruits, vegetables etc… Although things like Greek yogurt do count. The more you eat of natural foods, the healthier you will be. I try to stay away from processed snacks because they contain a lot of sugar. If you just type the words “clean eating” into Google, you will be able to read about it for years.

Another tool that I’ve found to be insanely in my weight loss endeavors is Pintrest, yes I said Pintrest. If you go to the health and fitness section, there is no shortage of motivational quotes and amazing workouts that require no equipment/insane time commitment. There is also an abundance of awesome recipes for healthy snacks/smoothies/meals. The most important thing when it comes to losing weight or toning up is believing in yourself. If you doubt yourself from the beginning, odds are you won’t succeed. Eat clean, workout, and you’ll have the body of your dreams in no time.
