Breezy Weather Essentials: How to Kick Off Autumn with Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

‘Tis the season of layering! As the temperature begins to descend into the mid and lower 60’s and 50’s, remember, fashionable items will not desert you. My Fall/Winter styling advice is to minimalize. No longer being able to flaunt colorful twin sets or your favorite crop top and cutoff shorts due to the chilling breeze, fall calls for minimalism with a statement.

My first favorite statement pieces for the colder months are Capes and Ponchos. They serve as a warm and stylish way to spruce up an all black ensemble or a really basic tee and jeans combo.

Next on my list of essentials are jackets. A bomber or leather moto are go to’s that can easily be styled while also giving life to a simplistic look. Parkas are also one of my favorites. Parka’s are simply high fashion utility jackets. it flatters your body despite its baggy build. Bombers, Moto’s and Parkas are unisex, thus can be worn as a sporty, or casual look for women and a punk, street look for men.

Finally, feet! Shoes are one of the most important parts of an outfit. It can make or break you, but fall makes it so easy to stay minimal with Chelsea booties, leather boots and knee high’s of all kinds. They compliment joggers, jeans and trousers and can be worn in the spring months as well. Some of the best shoe stores for Fall and Winter include Aldo, Nordstrom, TOPSHOP, Doctor Marten, Steve Madden, and Zara.

So, go fearlessly into the cold and never forget that fashion will always follow.
