Well ladies, that time of the year has finally come.  There is now less than a month until spring break and we are all trying our hardest to get our bodies into bikini perfection.  As we all know, it is not always easy to find time to work out or have the control to say “no” to that sweet craving late at night.  As a gym-a-holic I know it is not in everyone’s schedule to make it to the gym, but if you really want to feel confident in your bikini this spring break here are some tips…

  • Make it your daily saying, ”It is not IF I will go to the gym, but WHEN I will make it to the gym.”  I know it is hard but whether it is getting up early or studying while on the elliptical, there is usually no excuse not to make it to the gym for AT LEAST 20-30 minutes each day.  (Remember you only have to do this routine for less than a month).
  • When trying to get that spring break body alcohol is your worst enemy.  One shot of Tequila is 97 calories, a shot of vodka is 100 calories and a shot of rum could be up to 150 calories per shot, you do the math.
  • When working out, try walking and/or running on an incline.  It is OK to hold yourself up with the back of the treadmill.  Put the machine onto the highest incline and sprint at level 6-7 for one minute then take the pace down to 3.5-4 and walk for another minute.  Walking/running on an incline burns twice as many calories and when going from walking to sprinting to walking, it bumps up your heart rate for maximum calorie burning.
  • When coming home drunk after a long night DO NOT EAT SNACKS!!!  You have already consumed enough sugar/calories through alcohol.  Try setting aside some healthier choices that will satisfy your cravings.
  • Try not to eat past 10 p.m.  When you eat late the food does not have its full time to digest and ends up sitting in your stomach while you sleep.
  • Instead of drinking sugary juice drinks, switch to cold water.   Cold water will fill you quicker and does not have sugary calories that make you gain weight.  Ice water is a negative calories drink-your body burns calories warming it up.
  • When snacking, try to stay away from salty treats.  Salt makes you retain water when makes you bloat.
  • Try drinking green tea after each meal.  Green tea revs up your metabolism.
  • One of the greatest tips I can give…HAVE MORE SEX.  Oral sex can burn about 100 calories per half-hour and having sex can burn 144+ calories per half hour.
  • Sleep more to lose more!  Skimping on sleep while you’re dieting causes your body to lose more water, muscle, and other tissue- instead of fat-which slows your metabolism.

So there you have it.  Hopefully these tips will be helpful guidelines for reaching your anticipated bikini body.  Remember, work hard now…play hard later!
