13 Things to Look Forward to in 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

2012 has come and gone, and 2013 is already in full swing. We’re only about a month in, and we’re in a new routine already. Chances are, you broke your resolutions already (I know I did!), and you’re feeling uninspired. What’s so great about 2013 anyway, right?! WRONG. Here are 13 reasons 2013 is awesome.

1)Hunger Games: Catching Fire: Finally, for the lovers of the book series, number two (and personally my favorite) is due to be released on November 22nd, and from the behind the scenes pictures I’ve stalked, it looks promising and equally as amazing as the first! Even if you’re not a fan of the series, Liam Hemsworth is enough to make you go to the movies and watch it. I mean, hello, he’s Australian! Damn you, Miley Cyrus!

2)Kimye’s Baby: Okay, so maybe this one isn’t exciting, but you have to admit, we’re all waiting with bated breath to see what KK names her baby bundle of joy, and to see how Momager Kris will find a way to make money off of the birth. Oh, the Kardashians..

3)The Royal Baby: The ‘Baby Boom’ of 2012 means tons of new famous babies to read about in all the tabloids this year! Our fave royal couple, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their royal bundle of joy in July, which means tons of pictures for us to cry over! No doubt about it, they’re gonna make beautiful kids!

4)How I Met Your Mother: The popular series starts their ninth season this year, and we’re all left wondering: WHAT HAPPENS?! WHO is the mom and will we finally meet her? I know I’m dying to know!

5)MTV Movie Awards: This year’s Movie Awards are hosted by the hilarious Rebel Wilson (Annie’s awkward British roommate from Bridesmaids, or Fat Amy from Pitch Perfect), and are guaranteed to be equally hilarious. Plus, seeing our fave celebrities, great performances and the nicest clothes none of us can afford, who can complain? Be sure to check it out on April 14th.

6)The QU Spring “Wake the Giant” Concert: Who knows what SPB has in store for us this spring? After a teasing questionnaire, rumors have been flying about who they’re bringing in for the annual concert, and it’s sure to impress!

7)Spring Break: Whether you go skiing, shopping in a big city, or partying at a beach resort, everyone’s looking forward to the week-long break in the middle of the semester.

8)The Great Gatsby: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel is finally being made into a film, and with a star-filled cast, people have been raving about it before it’s even been released. Catch Leo, Isla Fisher, Tobey McGuire and more when the movie comes out May 10th.

9)Um, hi… SUMMER!

10)Valentine’s Day: need I say more?!

11)The Carrie Diaries: If you’re a self-proclaimed fashion whore like I am, and lived on Carrie Bradshaw and her friends in their NYC escapades, then you’ll love this prequel to Carrie’s fashionista life! January 14th was the first episode, and I’ve heard only great things about the series!

12)Awards Season: February brings awards season, and the Grammys and Oscars combine celebrities, talent and fashion under one roof. Who knows who will win this year! It’s always a good show!

13)365 New Opportunities: Most of all, 2013 brings a chance to recreate yourself – you have a blank slate, and 365 new opportunities to make 2013 your year! Make the most of it, because before you know it, it’s 2014.
