How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day, According to Leslie Knope

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Queen's U chapter.

So, I know you may be asking yourself, “what the heck is a Galentine’s day?”

Galentine’s Day is a tradition pioneered by Leslie Knope (a.k.a. Amy Poehler) from Parks and Rec. It serves to celebrate the women who make our lives so special.

For many, February 14th, a.k.a. Valentine’s Day, can be a rough and lonely 24 hours that leaves many of us in a negative mindset.

So what better way to get yourself out of a slump than celebrating with your best girlfriends?

Okay, maybe now you’re thinking

Alright you have a point, but ask yourself these questions first!

Who is your best drinking buddy, who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is?

Who can you fight with and make up with in the same day, possibly the same hour?

Is there anyone else you’d rather dish with about your new crush?

Is there anyone who agrees with you more?

Who is constantly concerned about your wellbeing (possibly to the level of a stalker)?

Who lifts you up when you need support?

Who always knows what to say?

If you haven’t figured it out by now, it’s your gal pals! So take the time to get out there and celebrate each other!

In any way that you like…

But, most importantly, don’t forget to tell them how much they mean to you ☺
