Dating during quarantine can feel impossible, but it doesn’t have to be!

There are a bunch of ways to connect with potential matches while you’re social distancing, and creating a dating profile is definitely the way to do it.  When you begin messaging a guy or gal, they may ask you to FaceTime a few days later.

You may not like the idea of talking to someone for the first time via FaceTime instead of meeting up with them in real life, but honestly, FaceTime dates have their perks.

Sooooo here’s everything that you need to know before your first FaceTime date.  If you follow these steps, I can guarantee that you’ll feel confident and ready to sit in front of your computer screen and make your date smile:)

Step #1: Tell your parents that your room is off-limits for a few hours.

If you feel comfortable telling your parents that you’re talking to someone new, go for it.  However, if you’re shy or embarrassed at first that’s completely normal. If you want, you can tell your parents that you’re just chatting with a classmate and finishing up a project together. If you want some extra privacy, turn on your bathroom fan to cancel out the noise or plug in an air purifier for some peace and quiet.

Step #2: Put on clothes that make you feel good.

Don’t show up to your date in a prom dress (unless you want to – you do you girlfriend!), but put on a cute tee or hoodie that you feel good in! Try out a shirt that you haven’t worn in a while to make you feel extra special.

Step #3: Put on some mascara or any makeup/perfume/beauty product that you love.

Because you’ll be going for an effortless and cute quarantine look, slapping on a full face of makeup is definitely not the right move. However, combing out your brows or putting on some mascara may help you feel fresh :)

Step #4: Plug in your computer and keep your charger next to you.

Make sure that you have a computer charger in your room so you won’t have to run downstairs to grab it. Also, FaceTime your date on your computer instead of your phone. Your computer screen is waaaaay bigger and your hand won’t get tired from holding your phone!

Step #5: Make a list of a few conversation starters before your online date.

Hopefully, your convo will feel super natural, but if not, write down some back-up questions that you could ask your date! It’s so normal for dates to be a bit awkward at first so it’s okay if there’s some silence! If you’re enjoying talking to your date and wanna continue spending time with them online, suggest a Netflix show and you can have an online Netflix party together. Sooooo romantic ;)

Step #6: Make sure that you’re in a comfy position and that your computer screen stays in one place.

You definitely don’t want your date to feel like they’re on a rollercoaster the entire time.  To prevent this, pretend you’re using a desktop computer and place your device in one spot. Don’t move your computer around the entire time or else your date won’t be too happy.

Step #7: Most importantly, be yourself.

I know it sounds so cliche, but if they don’t vibe with you, it’s 100% their loss. Lucky for you, thousands of Tinder users are waiting to meet you, so go get ‘em!!

Happy FaceTiming!
