7 Tips For Your Sweetest Smelling Hair Ever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Queen's U chapter.

The latest hair product love affair is dry shampoo – a lifesaver when you don’t have time for a full shower or just don’t feel like washing your hair. Dry shampoo makes it look like you stepped out of the shower just this morning, but what about products to help get that freshly washed smell to match?

1. Body spray

One of the best ways to keep your hair smelling heavenly is to use body spray! Chances are, you can find one to match your signature perfume or one that compliments your daily scent! Since many body sprays contain alcohol, avoid spraying directly into your roots. Instead, lightly spritz just over the ends of your hair.

2. Perfume

No body spray? No problem. Spray a little bit of your favourite perfume on your hairbrush (preferably a vented brush!) or comb and run it through your ends. This will prevent the scent from being too overwhelmingly strong while not weighing down your hair, but being just enough to keep your hair smelling amazing down to every last flip.

3. Leave-In Conditioner

This option may not be as noticeably fragrant as the others, but it will keep your hair as healthy-looking and soft as possible. Leave-in conditioners make your hair feel silky, allowing the delicate scent to emanate throughout your day!

4. Heat Protecting Sprays

This one is key – especially if you’re using hot styling tools on your luscious locks. Heat protecting sprays ensure your hair won’t smell burnt or lose its shine, while smelling beyond incredible all day long.

5. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice will leave a lasting fresh, citrusy scent in your hair all day long, while also fighting dandruff! Just shampoo as you regularly would, then massage a cup of water mixed with the juice of two fresh lemons into your hair. Soak for ten minutes before rinsing out. Be sure to condition afterwards so you don’t dry out your hair, and voila!

6. Essential Oils

Many essential oils, like peppermint, lavender, and vanilla oil, are antimicrobial and are more fragrant than sprays or perfumes. Just be careful – adding extra oils to your hair may make it look greasy quicker! To avoid this happening, add 2-3 drops of the essential oil to your shampoo or to a cup of water, and massage it into your scalp before shampooing.

7. Hair Perfume

If you’re really dedicated to having delicious smelling hair, maybe it’s time to invest in a product specially designed to give you the yummiest smelling locks! Many popular perfumes, such as Thierry Mugler’s Angel and Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb, come in a matching hair perfume – a perfect way to give your perfume a nice boost!

May your hair flips be dramatic and aromatic!
