Refreshing & Nonalcoholic Drinks for Spring

When the sun is shining and the weather is heating up, there is nothing I want more than a refreshing drink to cool down with. Here are some recipes I recommend trying while you’re laying out in the sun during a heat wave. Just don’t forget to put on sunscreen.

1. Lavender & Honey Lemonade

Recipe: 

  • 1 ½ cups of lemon juice 
  • 8 cups of water
  • 1 ¾ cups of granulated sugar 
  • 3-4 Tbsp. dried lavender 
  • ½ cup of honey
  • Blue or purple food coloring 

Directions: 

  • Over a medium heat, combine the water and sugar in a saucepan. When the sugar is dissolved, remove the sugar syrup from the heat and stir in the honey. Let it steep along with the dried lavender. After two hours, strain the lavender out of the sugar syrup when done. 
  • In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice, lavender mixture, and water. Add a drop of blue or purple food coloring for an added effect. Pour into a cup and top with a lemon wedge. 

2. Lime Mojitos (non-alcoholic)

Recipe: 

  •  ¾ cup San Pellegrino 
  • 2 tsp. of lime juice 
  • Mint leaves 
  • Ice 

Directions: 

  • Combine all ingredients. 

3. Strawberry & Basil Iced Tea  

Recipe: 

  • 4-5 family-size tea bags
  • 6 cups of water 
  • 2 cups of ripe strawberries 
  • ½ cup granulated sugar 
  • Basil leaves
  • Ice

Directions: 

  • Steep the tea bags in a pitcher with ice. 
  • Combine the strawberries and sugar in a blender. 
  • Blend. 
  • Mix in the strawberry puree with the black tea. 
  • Add in the basil leaves and garnish with sliced strawberries.

4. Grapefruit & Soda Sparkler  

Recipe: 

  • 2 cups pure grapefruit juice 
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda
  • Ice 

Directions: 

  • Combine all ingredients in a pitcher. 

5. Cucumber Limeade  

Recipe: 

  • ½ cups of lime juice 
  • 8 cups of water
  • 1 ¾ cups of granulated sugar 
  • Cucumber slices 
  • Ice

Directions: 

  • Same recipe as the lemonade listed above. 
  • Make a sugar syrup and combine all ingredients in a pitcher. 

6. Pineapple Coconut Water  

Recipe: 

  • 2 cups of coconut water 
  • 2 cups of pure pineapple juice or mango juice 
  • Ice 

Directions: 

  • Mix in a pitcher and add ice.
