This semester, I’ve spent a decent amount of time studying at coffee shops or trying to find new ones to check out! I haven’t always been the biggest fan of coffee, but it’s definitely grown on me as I went through this process, and I’ve absolutely loved studying in cafes!

I personally find it much easier to focus when I’m out of my room, and cafes/coffee shops have been perfect places for me to get work done. I just love the atmosphere; it’s not too quiet and not too noisy, people around you are working or relaxing with a book, and there’s also great food and drink for when you need a break! Here are some of my favorites around campus:

1. Indie Coffee Roasters

Indie Coffee Roasters has an original shop in Carmel, IN and just recently opened up a location right across the street from Village West! It’s a really cozy place, and I absolutely love the aesthetic and the vibe inside. It’s extremely well lit and bright because of all the white/ivory furniture. If you’re like me and you get sleepy with dim lights, this is definitely a good place to study. I will say, though, that the menu is a bit small but if you have one coffee that you always stick with, it’s a great place to go!

2. Cafe Literato

I love Café Lit. There’s a ton of table space in the café, and also in the church connected to it so finding a table has never been an issue for me. I love the food and drinks there, I’ve been trying to try something new every time I go! So far, my favorites have been the Italian Chop Salad and the Chili Lime Chicken sandwich. If you like brick oven pizza, they have that there too!

3. Reveille Coffee Bar

Reveille Coffee Bar is a small, cozy café in Lafayette. The drinks are pretty good, and it’s a very cute place to spend a few hours with your favorite book. The table space is a bit small, so I would recommend going there for a time of relaxation or self-care, but maybe not when you have a ton of work to do and need space to spread your things out. Another bonus, it’s right across from the cat café too!

There are a ton of coffee places near campus and in Lafayette, and I’m super excited to try them all before I graduate! So far, these are my favorite places to study and to relax, so if you’re looking for a change of scenery studying for your next few midterms, maybe give one of these places a shot!
