Living in a Country that Does Not Have the Fall Season: Creating Your Own Traditions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

If you are someone who lives in a country that never experiences the Fall season, you might be confused with the hype surrounding it. I get it. For all my life, the months of October and November did not signify anything. In Thailand, the only seasons we get are the summer and the wet seasons. I have a love-hate relationship with Thailand’s weather, but I have come to terms with it. It does not matter if I do not live in a country that experiences the four seasons. I can still create my own fall-themed traditions!

Go spend a day in the park with your friends or family!

You may not get the perfect picturesque fall themed photo that you always see through other people’s social media, but this is still a way for you to spend some time with nature and your loved ones.

Go for a swim under the Sun!

Appreciate the warmth your country provides during Fall season because in so many other countries, you cannot really do summer activities in Fall.

Create fall themed baked goods!

If you are into baking, or if you got some time to learn, try out some new baked goods with your friends. You could even host a bake-off competition!

Celebrate Halloween!

This is a big one. No one said you could not celebrate Halloween just because you do not have the Decorate your room in a Halloween theme or even turn your house into a haunted house for the children in your neighborhood to have fun with. Watch a horror movie with friends or tell each other ghost stories. Get into the spirit of celebrating Halloween!

These are just some of the countless other Fall traditions you can start with your friends and family if you are living in a country that does not have the Fall season culture. Get creative!
