How Early is TOO Early to Decorate for Christmas?

Now that we have officially entered November and have passed Halloween, is it too early to put up a Christmas tree? Here is my take on the upcoming holiday seasons and my guide to decorations!

Growing up, I believed that people should not decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving. I felt that the stores put out holiday decorations way too early and that it was not fair to the other holidays. However, sometime during the past few years, I changed my stance and I am pro-decorating as soon as possible for Christmas. In fact, I even considered buying a Christmas tree on November 1st. I held out but still, there is no shame in decorating early. Why should you wait? There are very few Thanksgiving-themed decorations and even then, those decorations don’t bring out the same jolly mood that Christmas decorations elicit. The Christmas tree, stockings, snowmen, and Santa figurines bring out a sense of warmth and comfort that other decorations don’t.

In the following weeks, here is what you can do if you can’t wait for after Thanksgiving. You can put up the Christmas tree now and all other decorations as well. You can appreciate the winter vibes and play all of the Christmas music you want. Then, when Thanksgiving break starts, take a break from Christmas for a few days and bask in the Thanksgiving aura that encompasses the country. Stuff yourself with turkey, potatoes, and stuffing, and then once the holiday has passed, you can return to the Christmas mood. Obviously, you can keep the Christmas tree up as long as you want after the holiday has passed as well.

While this take is controversial, this is personally how I like to celebrate the holiday season. Don’t let anyone shame you — put up that Christmas tree when YOU want!
