Get to Know Your Exec Board: Co-Campus Correspondent and Vice President Janice Chan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

As the coolest Co-Campus Correspondent around, Janice Chan’s humor and bubbly personality have helped make Her Campus Purdue what it is today; fun! Follow along to get to know our Vice President!

HC: What is your favorite memory of this semester so far?

Janice: Over Fall Break I got to go to Chicago for a food expo, it was by far one of my favorite trips to Chicago. I loved exploring more of the city and being able to relax and take a break.

HC: You’re done with homework! What show do you binge on Netflix?

Janice: There are too many shows! It depends on my mood and how I’m feeling but I have been loving The Great British Bake Off, Hart of Dixie, and as always Friends.

HC: What is your favorite trend of 2019 so far? Clothing, makeup, etc.?

Janice: Definitely scrunchies! I love a good scrunchie and always have one on me. I love how they don’t pull my hair and still look cute on my wrist.

HC: After college, I’m most excited for…

Janice: Having free time. I feel like I’m always on the go and always behind. I’m excited to have more down time to organize my life and relax.

HC: The best part about the holiday season is…

Janice: Either decorating or the desserts! I love going all out with lights, pumpkins, candles, pillows, and all the cute corny sayings on mugs. If it were acceptable, I would have my décor up for year long. The cookies, cakes, brownies, and everything surgary that comes with the holidays is amazing. I love being able to munch on whatever I want and hide it all under a sweater.

HC: It’s a chilly fall Saturday night. What do you eat for dinner? Do you go out or stay in?

Janice: Well depending on how much money I’ve spent that week; I’ll debate on going out or staying in. If I go out, I’ll probably end up at Green Leaf eating a steaming bowl of pho. But if I stay in, I’ll most likely be eating pasta.

HC: You’ve been asked to give a younger college student advice, what would you say?

Janice: Don’t overload yourself and don’t try to join everything at the same time. College goes by fast, but there’s definitely time to do everything! Also make sure to explore your major, I found out a little bit late that I could have double majored or gotten a minor that I would have enjoyed. So having a good relationship with your academic advisor is crucial because they’ll help you out a lot. But the most important thing of all is to have fun. Take the time to relax and enjoy spending time with your friends. College goes by insanely fast and I wish I had taken more time to have fun and make memories with my friends.

Looking forward to another year with you!
