The executive board of Her Campus at Purdue is very excited to announce the February recipient of our member of the month award, Alessandra Licetti. Alessandra has been a loyal member since the day she joined our chapter and has continued to be a wonderful addition to Her Campus at Purdue. Therefore, we couldn’t imagine a better choice to receive the honor of Member of the Month and are so delighted to share her with all of our readers. To get to know our February Member of the Month a little bit more, read the interview below!

What is your name, major, and year in school?

Alessandra Licetti, Sophomore in General Management

Where are you from?

Lima, Peru

How long have you been a member of Her Campus at Purdue?

I started writing for Her Campus during Fall 2021.

What is your favorite thing about being involved with HC at Purdue?

I love being part of an empowering team that shares amazing and imaginative articles constantly. I am constantly inspired by our chapter’s creativity and uniqueness. I love the freedom that comes with being able to write about every possible topic I want, and it really allows me to be creative.

Why did you choose to join HC at Purdue?

I love writing but I’m a business major, so Her Campus helps me explore my passions while doing what I love. I have always been a Her Campus fan: ever since I was in high school, I’ve read their articles! When I came to college, HC was one of the first organizations I wanted to join.

What do you like to do outside of school?

I love sports, especially swimming, soccer and surfing. I also love reading and movies, especially animated films. Outside of school, I like going out, dancing and travelling! This is kind of random, but I’m also addicted to making (and eating) smoothie bowls and acai bowls.

What is your favorite class you’ve taken at Purdue?

Even though I’m a business major, I love English literature and my favorite classes have been about books! I loved SCLA 101 last semester and this semester I’m loving ENGL 21800, which is an English class about Pirates!

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

My dream is to go to Greece and have a Mamma Mia summer. I would also love to explore different islands and beaches across the Mediterranean in a boat, eating delicious food and doing water sports. And taking lots of pictures, of course.

What kind of music do you love to listen to?

My music taste is super random and my Spotify wrapped is honestly embarrassing (My top song of the year was Crusin’ for a Bruisin’ from Teen Beach Movie). My favorite bands are the Beatles and One Direction, but I love listening to movie soundtracks and Glee covers. I also love Latin music. Since I’m from South America, I listen to a lot of salsa and reggaeton!

Favorite place to shop?

Barnes and Noble is my heaven honestly, I could spend hours there just buying a million books. My favorite shops for clothes are Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie and any beach shop like Billa Bong or Roxy.

What do you want to do after you graduate?

I want to go to Italy. Even though I grew up in Peru, my family is from Italy and Italian is my first language. I want to spend some time there exploring and connecting with my roots, and after that I would like to either work in media and film there or in the US, preferably in California.

What is your biggest goal for your future?

My dream is to work in the entertainment industry.

What is one thing about you that surprises people?

I am the world’s slowest eater. I take minimum 40 minutes to finish every meal, it’s ridiculous!

What would you tell someone thinking about joining HC at Purdue?

I would tell everyone to join! It’s an amazing organization that truly allows you to explore your interests and be part of an amazing group of women who constantly empower you to be the best version of yourself!

Is there anything else you want our readers to know about you?

A fun fact about me is I speak 4 languages: Spanish, Italian, English and French! If you know Spanish or Italian and you see me around please talk to me in one of those haha!!
