BBQ Jackfruit, is it worth the hype?

I’m sure by now, we’ve all seen the impossible burger popping up everywhere. But something a little bit newer on the market that I saw at my local grocery store was bbq jackfruit. I have heard that the taste and texture would be similar to normal pulled pork and decided to give it a shot.

My first thought after taking a bite was that it was not as close to pulled pork as I thought it would be.  The texture was kinda similar, but was not a one-to-one replica of pulled pork.  The taste also had a bit of tanginess from either the bbq sauce or the jackfruit itself. So, once I realized that it was not that close to pulled pork, the flavor started to grow on me.   If you want to try bbq jackfruit hoping it will be just like pulled pork, don’t. It is a different taste and you will be dissappointed. However, if you want to be adventurous and try some more sustainable foods, bbq jackfruit may be for you.
