5 Songs That Will Make You Proud to be a Woman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

Female empowerment is everything, especially today. That’s why it is so important that artists produce music that is uplifting, meaningful, and makes you feel good about yourself. If you are having a rough day or just need some encouragement, these 5 songs will be there to remind you just how important you are.

1. Run the World (Girls), Beyoncé

An obvious choice, Run the World (Girls) by Beyonc will always remain as the best feminist track of all time. Beyonc has always released feel-good songs, even in her Destiny’s Child days. The lyrics in this song make you feel strong and never lets you forget that “girls run the world.”

2. Most Girls, Hailee Steinfeld

The message behind this song puts an end to the famous line, “You’re not like most girls.” In this song, Hailee Steinfeld is here to remind us just how special it is to be like most girls.

3. thank you, next , Ariana Grande

In this recent release from Ariana Grande, she chose to thank her exes instead of being vengeful. She sings about how she knows her time for love will come and right now she is perfectly happy being with her friends. The pure message of self-love in this one is enough to make any girl powerful.

4. Woman’s World, Little Mix

Little Mix will always be the most empowering group of girls. Including four women, this girl band produces feminist bops on every album. This song is featured on their most recent album, LM5, and includes lyrics like: “If you never shouted to be heard, you ain’t lived in a woman’s world.”

5. Scars To Your Beautiful, Alessia Cara

Alessia Cara produces the most powerful message on this song. She reminds all women that we are all beautiful just the way we are, despite what society has to say. The words in this song are there to remind us all that we don’t need to change a single thing.
