As the weather gets chilly and the leaves start to fall, I am reminded that Halloween is right around the corner. Nothing is better at getting you hype for the holiday than drinking hot coffee, visiting a pumpkin patch, and watching movies with friends. Here’s a list of movies that will give you all the scares and spooks you want!

1. Scream

Scream is the perfect campy movie that will scare you and make you laugh. The movie satirizes horror movies and points out the flaws that many of them make. The characters are funny and relatable, and the twists are unforgettable. All in all, it’s a perfect horror movie to watch with friends as you try to solve who’s Ghostface.

2. You’re Next

You’re Next is the movie for anyone tired of characters making stupid decisions in horror movies. The main character Erin is smart and kicks serious butt. This movie has funny moments, great twists, and killer fight scenes, no pun intended. So, buckle up and enjoy one of the best home invasion movies out yet.

3.  The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie that you probably saw as a child, and as an adult, I can attest that it only gets better. The Nightmare Before Christmas has catchy tunes and a story that a lot of people can relate to; one of feeling like you belong somewhere else. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a time trip back to your childhood.

4. Halloween

The name itself proves why this the best movie for the holiday. While the movie may be an oldie, it sure is a goodie. The notorious theme song and setting sets Halloween up to be an incredibly spooky movie despite how old it is. Add in Michael Myers, one of the most famous horror icons, and you have the perfect equation for keeping the lights on at night.

5. The Strangers

Out of all the movies on this list, I vote this one most likely to make you poop your pants. The Strangers is possibly one of the scariest movies to ever be made. The atmosphere along with the idea of being hunted in your home is one that will leave you scared beyond belief. Beware, after this, you may never answer your door again.
