Style Stop: Danielle Henderson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purchase chapter.

Danielle Hendersen – Purchase junior, psychology major, 20 years old

Q: One piece you would love to say goodbye to?

A: Cropped Tees. I still see a lot of women wearing cropped tees. I own cropped tees, but I’m going to throw them away real soon, I just feel like they look like baby t-hirts or something you browed from your little sister.

Q: How do you express your individuality through your wardrobe?

A: What I like to do is blend edginess; like I want it to be chic and classy. Not too much feminine and not too much masculine. If I’m going to wear a blouse I like to throw a blazer over it. I don’t like to look too girly.

Q:That must-have piece for the season?

A: I would say really nice shoes, because I feel like in this weather it’s hard to find nice shoes that keep your feet warm and looking stylish without looking like there’s a dead animal on your foot. [I like] something nice like suede boots or high heeled boots.

Q: Who do you look to for your style inspiration?

A: Oh my god, Rihanna! I feel like Riahnna is the perfect blend for feminine and masculine energy for your wardrobe. She’s not afraid and really bold to express herself. I take a lot of tips from her, like the way I shape my nails to the way I tie up my shirts.

Q: Staple every collegiette should own?

A: A really nice bag; it really dresses things up. I think an accessory like a bag makes [someone’s] whole outfit solid, along with shoes- bags make a statement. Everything from the color, the texture and designer. So I think definitely a nice bag to put the outfit all together.

Christie is a sophomore journalism major at Purchase College in NY, but she’s a Jersey Girl at heart. When she isn’t studying (or being sarcastic), she spends her summers selling crafty jewelry on Long Beach Island and making coffee for her superiors at Parker and Partner’s Marketing Resources. She’s a sucker for debates, sushi, and a really good book. Her dream job (this week) would be at the Village Voice, but she’d be happy with a byline and paycheck. She hopes to make HerCampus bigger and better than ever at Purchase and is excited for the chance to work with these lovely HC ladies.
